Applescript and Safari

I tried recording a script... but apparantly the recorder wont even "tell app" Frustrating as hell. Nothing seems to record anymore.

Anyway, I think I need Applescript to do this.

I want to write a script to open Safari and goto a specific URL. The catch after going to a URL I need to click a link, which open a window with javascript.

If I can get this working I am going to assign it to iCal to open my radio stream automatically.

    Thanks for any help.

***Is Applescript even useful anymore? Can anyone recommend an Applescript book that is pretty current? Add-ons?
