Windows networking, at a complete loss

Date: 08/31/07 (Microsoft Windows)    Keywords: linux

I'm trying to set up Windows networking between two XP boxes, a Vista Box, and an Ubuntu box (ignore the ubuntu box for now).

Windows Networking was just working with shares, but now while the machines can ping each other, whenever I go into network neighborhood it tells me that I don't have permission for this workgroup, and I need to contact an administrator (that's what the XP boxes are saying, the Vista box is just showing itself on the network).

Internet access, and access to printing to a network printer works just fine.
