Date: 02/16/05 (Microsoft Windows) Keywords: software I bought the parts for a AMD Thoroughbreed PC awhile ago but I have been really slow about putting it together as I am primarily a Mac user and just wanted a computer to play Windows-only/DOS games on. I have Windows 2000 Pro installed on it. I recently tried to get it online using the ethernet adapter that came with my motherboard (SiS 900), connecting via comcast high speed internet going through a router. I have looked all over my modem but haven't been able to figure out what model it is. At any rate, I don't have the software for it. I have TCP/IP installed and have it set up to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically, which is what every site I've looked at has said to do. My computer recognizes that there is a Local Area connection, but I can't ping anything or connect to the internet at all. I know the modem and the router work just fine because we have two Macs that use them. The RJ-45 is also fine because it's the same one I'm using right now on my laptop. Any suggestions on what to do? Source: http://www.livejournal.com/community/ms_windows/21226.html
