I just wanted to recommend this site to all you folks. it's a social networking site, only it's for business/employment contacts. you sign up, get your colleagues to sign up, they hook you up with others in your industry, etc etc. you can also get endorsements from past co-workers/employers/clients that help boost your profile to prospective clients/employers.

I just signed up yesterday and already I'm hooked up with a few people I used to work with who I'd forgotten existed. as someone who occasionally hires freelancers it's definitely a tool I'm glad to have, plus it's a great way to promote yourself and back it up with actual references that everyone can see.

think of it as an interactive resume complete with built in ratings system.
