Photoshop question

I don't seem to be able to find a community dedicated to Photoshop, so hopefully someone here can help...

I am building out some galleries for a Wordpress site I am developing for myself, and want to add a transparent text watermark to the photos. Ideally, I'd set it up as a custom watermark that can be applied in batches. I found this page on a Google search and have followed the steps. I am using CS2 and the first couple of times I tried this, everything happened exactly as it was supposed to. But, I kept starting over because I wasn't happy with the original file dimensions and was playing with different possibilities. In the process, suddenly my Photoshop stopped behaving according to script.

Specifically, when I create the text (not the symbol, that part works fine), and then do the Layer - Type - Create Work Path, I no longer get the second path layer. As a result, I can't use the Path Selection Tool to highlight that text and drop it into the first path, and I also get no regular text layer.

I have rebooted the computer to clear the RAM but with no positive result. Is there a Photoshop cache I am supposed to clear? Am I having just an ordinary stupid moment? I followed the instructions closely and to the letter in order to make sure I wasn't skipping something or inverting something. I know there are a dozen different ways to do watermarks image by image, but I would love to save myself a helluva lot of typing and time by being able to do them en masse.

    Anyone? TIA.
