1. email file forms...

    Date: 04/14/05     Keywords: software

    Morning all!

I'm trying to find out how I can create a field in an email form that allows the user to attach a file, if anyone knows how I can do this using a cgi-bin script so that it doesn't need to use outlook or similar email software and does it independently that would be great. I've done some googling, but can't seem to find anything helpful, so if you could point me in the right direction that would be great!

    Cheers

    Chris.

  2. CSS Issue...

    Date: 04/14/05     Keywords: html, web

I have run into a problem regarding when two div ends at two different lengths when I want them to end at the right position no matter what is in the div. For example, if you'll notice on http://webentrapments.com/caseyandjenn/index.html that everything is laid out correctly like I want it. The two div meet the footer div. However, on a page with longer content such as http://webentrapments.com/caseyandjenn/about.html the two div end but the content from one of the div keeps flowing over everything below it. Previously I used minimum-height to fix the issue but I wanted to see if there was another work around to this. Thanks!

  3. html help

    Date: 04/14/05     Keywords: html, web

hey, there. i'm trying to put a form e-mailer on a website and i'm sooo confused. i don't know html that well, so i was kinda just hoping to find a cut and paste type thing - maybe that's not how an e-mail form works? i just want a basic thing that has a space for name, e-mail, how you found me, anything else you want to see on the website, and any comments. nothing too fancy. does anyone know how to do this easily or know of a website where someone with a limited knowledge of html could develop one of these? thanks so much!

  4. Help with setting up EZ Pay section of website.

    Date: 04/14/05     Keywords: web, shopping

Hi! I think this might be my first time posting to these communities, but hopefully something good will come out of it.

I am the online editor/webmaster for a newspaper that just recently decided they want to set up an EZ Pay option on the website for customers to subscribe with.

I have set up a shopping cart with Mal's E-Commerse and am now trying to build the correct forms/secure pages to gather the information from in order to store it in the shopping carts...and then later process the orders by hand.

So basically my question is this: What is the easiest and most reliable way to go about getting the information page up and running? Is there somewhere on the web that can kind of guide my doing this by hand though a program like Dreamweaver MX?

    Thanks for any input.

  7. Including files

    Date: 04/11/05     Keywords: html, asp

Alright guys, I got a question for you. I'm working with ASP.NET and trying to convert one of the sites I had to make for the Nursing department at my school from purely HTML to .NET. The way things are set up now is that every file includes the navigation file. I'm wondering how to do this in .NET (C# as the language).

I've tried using the command, and it will include it fine, but it screws up the links on the page.

I'm wondering if there's a regular .NET command to include this file.

    Thanks much!

  8. Table spacing

    Date: 04/11/05     Keywords: no keywords

Having a bit of a problem with some table spacing. The page in question is here. Just to see how everything was spacing I also put up a version where the border=1 here. I'm having a problem with the cell with the menu in it. I've got the td height set (I know, not great) but it keeps expanding. Is there anyway I can get that cell to just stay the size of the image and have the cell below it expand instead?

Or any other ideas on how to put the thin black border on the left-hand side?

  10. :hover broken in IE

Date: 04/09/05     Keywords: css, java, web, seo

i tried to redesign my website today and started to use a lot of :hover elements in my css to make my TDs borders highlight when you hover over them
of course, i designed it all in mozilla firefox, so as soon as i tried it in IE it broke :(

i spent about an hour googling for helpful websites, and all i've come up with is javascript code to put in the td mouseOver tag

is there a better or easier way to make IE work with :hover in CSS?
if not, what is the best way of getting round this lack of :hover support in IE?

  11. inventory management system

    Date: 04/09/05     Keywords: database

anyone here that's done a site that connects to an inventory management database?

I have a potential client that wants a secure place where salesmen can log in and check stock, check prices. The stock can be updated when new stuff comes in, deleted on the database when the company is out, etc. This company is small with about 10 salesmen maybe. They will want to be able to log in remotely.

if anyone has any experience or recommendations, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks!

So I assume this is an age-old question, but is there any way to enlarge a JPG image without ruining it? The image in question can be found here:

    http://www.vincemeno.com

The client wants that logo enlarged to be put on a T-Shirt. The wings in the logo were taken from a JPG image of a bird. Everything is vector EXCEPT those wings. Any tricks out there to enlarge the JPG wings without making them ugly?

  17. Oh no! A message board question!

Date: 04/07/05     Keywords: php, security, web

Ok, let me start off by saying that I did go back about a month looking through posts to see if this had been discussed recently.  Also, there are no community memories to check. So I feel that I've done my best to look before I post.  Also, I understand that the "these forums are the best" debate will go on forever and that it's impossible to get an unbiased answer.  That's why I just want opinions.

I'm looking for a nice, simple message board package for a client's website.  The only feature I absolutely need is the ability to attach files.  I don't want anything bloated or full of security holes, and I don't want anything that's not free.  So no phpBB, no vBulleting, no Invision PB, etc.

There are three that I am looking at right now:
    PunBB
    MyBB
    SMF

Now, PunBB would be my first choice since it is really simple, trimmed down, and looks nice.  However, the File Attachment mod for the newest version isn't done yet.

So I'm looking for opinions on the other two.  Anybody use either of them and have good/bad things to say?  Also, are there other, better free message boards out there that I'm missing?

  19. Alright...

Date: 04/07/05     Keywords: browser, html, asp

I've got a small question. I know I should know the answer to this, but dern if I can't figure it out.

I've got an ASP.NET page written with C# (code located at http://images.julisana.com/ellie/index.aspx.txt You will have to save it to view the code, otherwise the browser tries to render it and fails miserably) with a form that is supposed to: send an e-mail upon submission. The action element of the form is set to go to submit.aspx (code located at http://images.julisana.com/ellie/submit.aspx.txt Same rules apply for this one too). So, what I want to know is, why will it send the e-mail, but not continue to the next page. Do I need to add a call to my C# scripting that tells it to go to submit.aspx, despite the fact that the action element is set to that? Or what?

    Thanks much!

Update: Response.Redirect("pagename.html"); was the command I was looking for.

  20. Calling all IE quirks experts and CSS gurus...

Date: 04/07/05     Keywords: browser, css, html

Got myself a bit of a problem, and it's had the whole office banging our heads on the desk in frustration.

No matter what we do, we can't make Internet Explorer honour our requests to clear the boxes. If you take a look in Firefox or another CSS compliant browser, it does precisely what it's supposed to - after one box finishes on one side, the next box appears on the other side, as both have clear: left / clear: right (as appropriate), and the text flows straight down the middle, moving where it's supposed to. However, no matter what we do, IE completely ignores the clears, and slaps them next to each other. Suffice to say it's getting rather annoying!

Anyone got any ideas / workarounds for IE being crap? We've been crawling the 'net to no avail on this one.
