OK soooo... a couple of things.. First off i redesigned my site: www.phreakgrrrl.com C & C welcome.. and..umm, very much needed...
And secondly.. i'm going to be maintaining a few sites pretty soon and have NO IDEA what to charge for that. I've heard $35 and hour is resonable...yes?? :\
i mean i'm sure it depends on the work load but.. any other input would be awesome.
I'm having difficulty finding a sensible preloader tutorial for Flash MX. I want to create a simple bar that fills in corospondance to the percentage loaded of the main swf. No dynamic text. Any good simple tutorials out there that will help me with the action script?
Tutorials always seem to have too many bells and whistles or not enough, yeah?
Hi, I have a technical question about webhosts and servers. Let me know if I should post my question in another community.
I am using Yahoo webhosting. I did a whois search of my domain name using www.whois.sc. Whois.sc reports that the revese IP address Web server hosts 11,000 websites. Does this mean that 11,000 share the same IP address? Does Yahoo's DNS and network uses some kind of network address translator (NAT) to route packets to the proper web server and website?
The revers DNS of the IP address points to a Yahoo.com address, not my domain. Anyway, I am just wondering. It's no big deal.
I need to read the help files about access logs. Later everyone.
I have some knowledge of HTML. In fact, I made my first website (which I never posted on the internet) in HTML. Wasn't very pretty, but it was a good start. The best HTML editor would have to be HTMLed 3.2 (not the Pro). I think the non-pro one is free. It has syntax highlighting and all that jazz.
For the most part, its going to be a simple website, so I'm not trying to get fancy with it. I decided using frames was a decent way to handle this.
My problem is this. My frames match up when I"m 800x600. But I cant seem to get the frames to match up at the other resolutions. I'd like it where the menu and the content are always underneath the header graphic (which is 800 pixels long).
Is there something I'm forgetting here? Why is my context text starting so far over? I'm sure its something small that I've forgotten, and I would be grateful for any pointers.
I think I was far too vague when asking for help. Here's the problem:
I have a layout, but when it comes to coding it, i'm having difficulties. I have everything sliced correctly, and uploaded. I put in the header, but when it comes to the tables, I can't figure it out. I can add the "navigation" and "links" content boxes without any difficulties, but when it comes to adding the content box, I can't seem to position it right. If I add more then one column, it won't let me put any space between the content box and the boxes on the left. Help please?
hi, i'm new and I hav a question. I'm using dreamweaver and i'm trying to put a table beside another table, but it keeps putting the new table underneith the old one instead of beside it. Any ideas why?
i doubt you can do this.. but i was wondering if there was a way to use any sort of programming to text wrap between 2 columns.
i have a page with 2 columns of text, side by side, and i don't want the white space at the bottom. however, since text is displayed differently on different platforms [mac and pc] i have to just leave it and increase the padding an paragraph set up specifically for the pc. i still have the white space and i can't stand it.
so, i was wondering if anyone knew of any code to text wrap in html, css, js, php - anything - between columns.
So I was going to once again plead for some help from you great minds on a problem I was having with my page (http://www.ivytech.edu/eastcentral) not looking correct in browsers other than IE.
I was thinking of heading over to the local computer show this weekend and picking myself up a $40 copy of Flash 4. Flash MX sucks because it always freezes my computer (I probably need more RAM, but nuts to that.) I want to know if anyone has used Flash 4 before and what their experiences were like. Thanks.
Can anyone recommend a good PHP based photo gallery, that's easily editable (header and footer), and can handle multiple file (or ideally folder) uploads at once.
I'm creating a web site that has a flash header (with navigation) and a flash side bar. These elements are part of the basic layout and are going to be on every page of the site... I would like to have it so that when I click on a link in the header the content area changes, but the header and sidebar do not reload. I *could* use frames... but I refuse.
I've used includes before as an alternative to frames, but with includes the shared elements still reload on every page.
