Pdf

Still working on those Java issues, but in the meantime, I'm having some problems opening up some of my pdf files.  I had previously been storing a bunch of my pdf files on a CD-RW.  One day I tried to open the files and my computer froze or something.  At any rate, now when I try to open those files, I get this message: Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or beacause the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

I'm thinking my problem is the files were damaged somewhere along the way.  Can I fix them??

    Thanks
