ethernet card troubles

Date: 11/03/06 (Computer Help)    Keywords: no keywords

I've been using my ethernet card on Windows XP for months with no problems, except that I have to remove it and re-insert it every time I restart, so the computer will recognize it. The other day I restarted it, pulled it out and stuck it back in as usual, and instead of recognizing it properly, my computer says, "NEW HARDWARE DETECTED."

Since I can't get the internet without the card, it can't find the proper drivers over the internet. So, I put in my disc that came with the card which has all the drivers on it. The computer said that it could not find the drivers on the disc.

So... what in the world do I do? Thank you!
