SEEIN' RED

Just stumbled upon this cool community, and I'm in need of help already!

    So,here's the delimma-
a few weeks ago I purchased one of those Casio Watch Cameras, and to transfer the pics from the camera to the PC it needs to do it via InfraRed.
So,Since my PC doesn't have the infrared thingy already in it,they also sent me an adapter that connects to a serial port.Well, after connecting it and trying to find a driver for it(it seems that the latest driver is for Windows 2000,but I have XP),it doesn't work,so I ordered a Casio Pad-5 USB IR adapter that is supposed to work, but the company I ordered it from is out of stock and who knows when itll be available.
So today,I picked up a $20 USB IR adapter from Fry's.The odd thing is,it recognises the camerawatch, even by name,on my system tray, but when I try to upload pictures from it,the program(the one that came with the watch)comes up with an error messege-"can't find camera-check IR ports.
Aaaarrrggghhh! It seems so close-yet so far away.
So,in short,it knows the watch is there, recognizes the model type.but I can't seem to access it.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? How do I access the pics on my camera watch with my USB Infrared adapter?
    There's...got...to...be...a...way......
