ThinkPad recovery partition

Sup. Has anyone here had any luck accessing and formatting the IBM ThinkPad hidden recovery partition - WITHOUT running DFT? I put this drive in an iBook, and I'd like to get to that hidden 4GB. If you've ever tried upgrading anything in an iBook, you know that pulling the drive and sticking it in a Windows machine is the last thing I want to do. So....any options? Is there some DFT-type bootable CD that is PowerPC-compatible?
