  1. This is driving me nuts.

    Hello lovelies,

    I have posted in this community before and have received some fantastic help. However, I seem to have gotten myself stuck again on the same problem.

    It has to deal with centering my layout, using CSS. After reading some of the help posted here I realized that placing as much into css is really best for my site. However, my layout -refuses- to center properly.

    Which leads me to two questions.

    1) What am I doing incorrectly as far as centering the overall layout. (Yes, I am taking out the background before it is being published to the public.)

    2) Once I get the layout centered, how do I get my layer1 div that is scrolling to adjust itself to the dimensions of the screen? I want it in a particular place no matter where the layout is centered too. How can I make this work?

    3) I have tired to get this layer1 to work using css, but whenever I attempt to do so it ends up being extremely wonky. Wonky as in the wrong size, and positioned under the layout as if it is not a layer.

    Whoops. Sorry, that was three. I can count, really!

  • Profile help

    I have a question/problem concerning a profile.

    As you can see over at my community ('[info]'bella_sol) profile, there's this huge gap before the actual words in the 'About' section.

    I'm wondering how I can get rid of that.

    There's no <*br> before the actual code which starts off as

    <*table width="420px" bgcolor="#EEEEEE" cellpadding="10px" cellspacing="10px" align="center">

    Minus the asteric of course.

  • Centering a layout

    Hi guys!

    Here is the site that I am working on: http://www.deaduntildusk.com/ventrue.

    The overall layout is designed to fit 1024 x 768, but it seems that it looks awful in higher resolutions. So it brings me to this question: how can you make a layout fit in larger views?

    Should I install a code that automaticlay resizes it to the correct dimensions? Any thoughts would be highly appreciated!!

  • How do I make a page that remembers scores & opens links based on an "if...then..." test?

    Hi all,

    I am trying to create a set of pages that's like a little "choose your own adventure" style game. It started off as a basic html page (i.e. you click on your chosen option and it takes you to the next stage in the story), but i would like to make it more intelligent.

    I would like to be able to have it so that the user accumulates various scores, and then is given options based on what their score is.

    For example, a score might be "money". If the user chooses some option, it takes them to a page that adds "50" to their "money" score.

    Later on, they may encounter a page where "if money >= 50, direct to link 1; if money < 50, direct to link 2."

    Does anybody know how to do this?

    I have been trawling through countless Javascript and HTML tutorials for the last couple of hours, and have only found little bits and peices of what i need.

    I have found examples of "if... then..." statements in Java, but i have not found any way to establish some score ("money") that can accumulate when a particular page is accessed.

    I have also not found any way to make the outcome of an "if... then..." test determine which page you are then linked to.

    Can anybody help?

    Ok, so I am a loser who doesn't know anything at this sadly enough.  Now that we have this out of the way I have a question.  Can anyone help me or tell me the best way to change a header on a community.  I made a community and a nice little header for it and I have no idea how to change it.  I just want a simple little white and red layout with the bar thingy on the right (I think I can do that much) but I have no idea how to change the header on it.
    Help please and thank you in advance!

    hi guys,

    i am interested in finding someone who is willing to be paid for their time spent customizing a livejournal layout for me. my boss is interested in making a livejournal presence to represent our company. it would be based off our website (which you'd be free to peruse). the graphics would have to be pulled from the website and used in the layout. i'd also request that the color scheme remains identical, as well as most fonts. as far as the actual shape and size of everything goes, you'd be welcome to experiment! i'd prefer to be in contact throughout, so i can see if i dig it.

  • table in Bio problem. please help.

    I made a table for the back of my LJ bio.

    The table looks fine.

    The problem is there is this huge gap before my table shows up.

    there is no empty spaces in my bio between the table and where you begin to write.

  • getting rid of usericons

    how do you hide your user icon on your journal (besides not using a default icon)?

    its basically really pissing me off because it shifts my image map header to the right, making the page stretch. obviously its ok anywhere except my entries page (i.e. friends page, calendar) because it doesnt show up there.

    i tried looking it up before and put in the coding it suggested, ".shadowed img {display: none;}", but that didnt work. it made it disappear, but my whole image map disappeared as well.


    so i made a completely new layout from scratch thinking it was some messed up coding from my last layout. but the same thing still happened.




    i also tried to use one of those premade layouts really quick to check if its even a coding issue. the preview had no user icon, and when i put it on mine, my icon was there and messed up their layout. so im even more frustrated because i cant figure out whats wrong.

  • Random text generator

    I need an easy to use text generator I can place on my site so I can use it for
    "random quotes" but I need to be able to add extra quotes to the list without having to edit every single page (since my layout uses tables). Any suggestions?


    I also have another question. Since my page uses tables, is there a way that I can put some code on my page that will allow me to change the poll on my page without editing every single page the poll shows up on?
