Hi, new member here and I have a bit of a problem with a site called Giga Share. Ive been trying to download something and keep getting a 403 error when I try to D/L it. I use Windows XP and AOL. I also have Norton Systemworks so I think it might be that. My question is, is their something I need to do with the firewall to let this sight work or should my actions be something else entirely?

multi-line replace feature
Date: 07/16/05
(WebDesign) Keywords: html
Hello! Can any of you kind folks recommend a good free Windows text editor that has a multi-line replace feature? Ideally, it would have some html syntax highlighting and maybe accept some kind of wildcard character.
I've downloaded some that claim to have it, but instead of a line break, you need to put in some magic set of "aij'p" characters that are supposed to stand for a line break, and you can only see one long line. Which is better than nothing, but very annoying.
Any input you have would be much appreciated. Thanks!

trying to migrate client off of a ASP driven site to well something that is not a dirty hack (their site not IIS/ASP).
They have a nifty form setup (behind a password protected page sorry) in ASP where you click a choice from a list of four options and then you get bellow it a form to fill out. Now I took an idea from http://developer.apple.com/internet/webcontent/dynamicforms.html (a great site btw) and have the forms per say working. Its just that there is content under the space where the forms would show up and now as a DIV it just writes over it. Is there a simple way to "push" the html down? other than making the bottom part a div and hiding it (and then I am back to a dirty hack)

Hello all. I've been reading this community for about 2 weeks and now I have a question.
Here's the problem: if you view my website in Firefox, montoyaiscool.com, and then try to add it to the favorites, you get the right address, but the title is "[object HTMLImageElement]."
This is really wierd, and it doesn't happen in IE. Anyone know what's wrong?

Dreamweaver's crap

Someone said that he works around DMX's crap. So, does anyone mind warning me about DMX's crap and any other useful information about the application to a beginner in using HTML editors? I sorta know HTML and CSS, I swear I do, I just hate using HTML editors. I prefer manual coding. -_-
Oh, and how can Netscape NOT support table border colors? What's up with that?!

Everyone, check this out

(WebDesign) Keywords: css, html, asp, web
Due to the recent events which transpired in a recent post of mine (which I'm sure you've all read through by now), and also the recent outcry for or against usability, table-less css sites, and everyone aspiring for perfectly valid HTML sites... I've decided to post this link I found last night. I think its worth a look. Please don't think I'm anti-usability, pro-tables, and pro-crappy HTML. My point is that people harp and harp on these issues way more than they should... IMHO.
Quotes:
"Mystical belief in the power of Web Standards, Usability, and tableless CSS"
"Remember, nobody gets excited about the tools used to build a house ("Please tell me what brand of hammers you used!"). People get excited about how the house looks and performs."
"I learned quickly that business executives didn't care about usability testing or information design"
"There seems to be a cult belief that if we use Web Standards, usability, and tableless CSS, our web sites will make money, we'll be famous (or at least cool), and our sites will look great. It isn't that easy."

Sticky File
Date: 07/22/05
(PHP Community) Keywords: php, html
I know this is more of a general HTML/Forms question, but since I'm using PHP to make the values sticky, I figure maybe I can get away with asking this here. :)
Is there any way to make an uploaded file sticky? If a user submits a form, and they add a file, but forget other required information, when I re-present the form, the file resets, so they have to attach it again. I looked up the tag reference, and unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a "value" option for the "file" input type.
Any trickery exist for this one?

One Stop Resource
Date: 07/23/05
(WebDesign) Keywords: css, html, asp, web
Alright, new idea.
Since It's come to my attention that I need a great deal more knowledge in web-based "things" than I thought, I'm starting this. I assume lots others are in my boat. I sit here and make sites trying to be as artistic and creative as possible. Unfortunatly for me, I know nothing of accessability, table-less design, valid-HTML techniques, or anything like that. On the "technical" end of things, I'm quite the newbie. All I know is HTML, a SMALL amount of CSS, ASP with dreamweaver's help, and uhh... thats it pretty much. I'm totally in the dark when It comes to making sites without dreamweaver, flash, and fireworks... and still making the site look appealing.
So here's my idea. I need resources teaching me how to build better sites. I need sites teaching me how to make sites more accessable to disabled viewers, how to get away from poor HTML coding, the best ways to make table-less web sites... I need the works. Like I said before, I assume lots of people are in this boat with me. So I figure that all you experts out there can reply to this thread with some resources you use frequently, and wish to share with me/us, and all the designers out there can bookmark this thread for future use. Get me?
I posted a while back asking about CSS use for table-less sites, and got terrific replies. I still have that bookmarked.
Excuse the lofty request, but I want to learn!
Instead of googling all this, I figure lots of people on this forum can offer great resources... you have before.
Thanks in advance, to anyone who contributes.
:)

Need Web Designer
Date: 07/23/05
(WebDesign) Keywords: html, web, yahoo
Hi,
I'm currently looking for a web designer for my new business website. I'm looking for a relatively simple website, probably only html. I might also eventually be looking for a programmer, but for now I'm only looking for web design.
My email address is moodyaardvark@yahoo.com. If you're interested, please email me there saying so, along with the URLs of a few websites you've worked on. I will then email you more information, along with most of the content for that website. Once you receive all the information, and that I've answered the questions that you may have, please send me a quote of the approximate time and cost.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to working with you (whoever you are)!

Question.
Date: 07/25/05
(HTML Help) Keywords: html
I've got a simple question, but it's not really related to HTML and this was the best place to ask it.
Does anyone who has Animation Shop 3 know how to decrease the speed in slide change? Like, from one slide to another?
This, for example. Does anyone know how make this slower?
(Yes, the picture is moving. It's just the same picture.)
