Hullo all, I posted this cache-clearing problem on '[info]'firefoxusers a few days ago and it was mentioned that it wasn't in the bug list. I thought I'd post it here too, just in case anyone else would like a go at it.

Me again... I tried that uninstalling and reinstalling tip and... hmm, well, I'm still getting some timeouts, though maybe 75% versus 90-100% like before. I even did the uninstall and reinstall twice, still no luck. I can't change the dialup factor as I posted a reply to a comment in my last post that I live out in the boonies where I can't even get cable, so the only solution is gratitude... I guess... *sigh*

  9. Timeouts, timeouts, and more timeouts

    Date: 06/30/05     Keywords: web

I recently discovered the greatness of such Firefox extensions as NoScript, AdBlock, and just for fun, StumbleUpon and Forecastfox. I installed Adblock first, no problems. I then installed Forecastfox and StumbleUpon in the same day and had some problems to where even Forecastfox itself was timing out. So, I uninstalled Forecastfox thinking I don't really need active accurate weather. I still was having timeouts, so I uninstalled StumbleUpon and then I tried going to a website after the uninstall and Firefox restart and multiple websites were still timing out, so I uninstalled NoScript and it took two firefox restarts to set it right again! I'm running XP pro on a dial-up connection and now I feel a little less protected *sigh*

  10. Sunbird Question

How would one go about installing an extension in Sunbird?  I ask, because if you look on the installation page of this extension: http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/, there is a version for Sunbird, which would be very handy.

  11. Disabling "Additional plugins are required . . ."

    Date: 06/25/05     Keywords: no keywords

I just upgraded to 1.04 from 0.7 . . . OK, so I tend to put these things off and I'm getting "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" a lot, mostly I suspect because I don't have Flash installed on this setup (I'm on dialup and life is too short).

How do I disable this message? I *know* what's going on, and I *don't* want to upgrade, not to mention that I don't want to click and DL some malware instead.

  12. Disappearing bookmarks, firefox 'resetting'

    Date: 06/24/05     Keywords: no keywords

I've had a strange little thing happening to me now and then. Firefox seems to 'reset' itself, in that I mean that I lose all my bookmarks and my extensions return to their default settings. I've searched high and low as to the cause of this, but I can't pinpoint it. Anybody else have this same error?

    Date: 06/22/05     Keywords: browser

There are only two approved browsers at Big Blue - IE and Firefox. I'm not allowed the suite. What I miss most are the per-cookie rejections I used to be able to manage under Mozy Suite.

There must be an extension I can add for finer cookie control? Suggestions welcome...

  14. firefox turning into popup hell?

    Date: 06/21/05     Keywords: no keywords

Is anyone else having problems with 1.04 letting more and more popup windows through? It's driving me insane!
I know they can't totally prevent it forever, but this is nuts. I'm not even on a computer that CAN run IE so I can't even blame it on that.
Our lovely firefox is under attack.

  15. Question regarding profiles/cloning.

    Date: 06/17/05     Keywords: browser

OK, here's the deal: I would like to set up two different configurations of Firefox. One would be my primary browser for everyday browsing, and the second would be a browser with different extensions and configuration options for when I am working on projects. My first thought was to find a way to install a second, separate/independent version of Firefox, but that would be rather cumbersome and I am not even sure if I could actually do it. I started reading a little bit about the "profiles" though, and that seems like the ideal solution. The thing is, I would like to set it up so that when I open up Firefox, it loads my primary browser by default, but I want to have a second shortcut that would load up Firefox directly into the alternate profile (bypassing the "Choose User Profile" dialog"). Is there a command line that would load a specific profile? That way I could have Firefox set to load the primary profile by default, but I could create a second shortcut in my start menu that would have the command line to open Firefox directly into the alternate profile. If this much is possible, is it also possible to have two separate Firefox windows open at the same time using the two different profiles? I am guessing that I can't have the two profiles in use by the same application at the same time, so would it be possible to make a clone of the .exe that could be used to run the secondary profile? In other words, to have two Firefox applications running at the same time but using different profiles?

For reference, I am using Windows 98SE and Firefox version 1.0.4.

  16. Netscape news features don't support Firefox?!

    Date: 06/16/05     Keywords: java, web

Dig this: "We're sorry, this feature is unsupported in Firefox."

From this typical news item on channels.netscape.com I went to the Javascript link called "Bomb-Laden Jet Crashes in Suburb" ... got a nice popup, with that error message where the video should be.

And the really dumb part? The "meat" is a typical RealMedia item:
0616dv_jet_crash_300.rm ... so the lamer webdesigners can't deliver RM to FF ... how stuhned is that?!

    Date: 06/15/05     Keywords: html

I downloaded downthemall from http://downthemall.mozdev.org/index.html and it worked great until a popup box said my trial period had expired and after that it wouldn't work. I was under the assumption downthemall is a free extension from Firefox. Does it cost something?

  18. saving images in firefox on a mac

    Date: 06/13/05     Keywords: browser

Recently my history professor was finally persuaded to switch over to firefox on his Mac. He loves firefox and thinks it is awesome however he cannot copy and paste and whenver he saves images from firefox it saves them exteremly small however his other browser does not do this. I am not a mac person and I wish I knew how to tell him to fix it however I do not know so I told him I would post here and see if any of you would be able to help.I know that all of you have been extremely helpful to me in the past and I was hoping you could do the same for him.

He is running firefox 1.0.4 and it has no extensions or anything special installed at all.
    He is running Mac 0S X 10.3.8

    thank you so much.

  19. New to FireFox....

Date: 06/13/05     Keywords: browser, web, google

I just installed Firefox today and everything seems okay but i have a few questions, maybe someone can help me out here.

    1. I use MSN Messenger and whenever i receive an e-mail on my Hotmail account i get a little pop up letting me know. When i click the pop up it takes me to my e-mail. The problem is that it opens/uses IE instead of Firefox. Is there anyway of making MSN open Firefox and not IE? I made Firefox my primary web browser if that helps any.

    2. Is Firefox compatible with Window Blinds?

    3. Firefox has a google search thing at the top and whenever i use it to search the search opens in the window/tab i am using, is there a way to make it open a new tab?

Hope to get help soon. Thanks.

  20. blocked images from adblocker

    Date: 06/10/05     Keywords: no keywords

    Hey,
Really retarded question here. How do I tell adblocker to unblock all photobucket images? I had right clicked on an image the other day to zoom in on it, and instead accidently clicked that sneaky little option to "block all images from img.photobucket and so now I can't see any photobucket images! I can't seem to find it listed within blocked elements or anywhere. Where's it hiding?? Because, remember, it's a special option not just "block this image".
