Now my question is if this is correct, or not?
My problem is that it executes in file-form, in IE, Firefox, but not my MSN brower.
But, when I upload all of the files (including the ScrollIt.jar file), it won't operate on any browser, or it will freeze up the browser window completely.

I don't need anyone to tell me how to do it, but I would love to know if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is beyond me.

  • RAR Archive

    Date: 11/13/05     Keywords: no keywords

A friend of mine sent me pictures in the RAR archive format, and told me to download a program (it's titled rarosx-3.5.0.tar) in order to open the pictures that he sent me. I downloaded the program but when I try to open the RAR archive file that he sent me, it tries to open it with StuffIt Expander and I get this message: "An error has occurred while expanding the file "bb.rar" (Format error). Error #17540." I have tried to manually choose the .tar program to open the file with, but my computer refuses to let me even attempt to do this - the program appears as gray, not letting me click on it. What can I do to open this file? I have a PowerBook G4, running on Mac OS X. I hope I explained this clearly enough. Thank you for your help.

My computer went crazy so I reinstalled Windows. I lost everything but folders from programs I had before I reinstalled Windows are still on my computer. Does that mean I can get everything back, or should I just delete the folders and reinstall everything?

My husband bought a server board accidently thinking it was a Pentium 4 mother board. The server board is a Gigabyte Pentium 4 with a 478 socket proccesor, but can we use it as a mother board? Can we put it in our computer and use it just like a mother board with Windows xp and everything?

Can someone tell tell us what a server board is and what it's used for and how it's different from a mother board?

So PLEASE help. I dont know how to get rid of it, and it wont let you browse the internet just keeps going to weird pages with a whole lotta links.

    6. Email woes - Thunderbird

      Date: 11/23/05     Keywords: no keywords

      (Cross posted)

I am using Thunderbird on a Windows XP Pro machine.

Today, my Thunderbird is not playing friendly.  It keeps churning away processing power, and the numbers it is reporting as messages in the inbox are outlandish -- and increasing every time I look at it.  I think it's saying 22,000 messages right now.  Make that 28,000.  Anyone see this happen before?

      Thanks!

    7. Hotmail

Date: 11/23/05     Keywords: asp, web, microsoft

I have a couple questions about Hotmail.

First, my mother uses Hotmail's web interface, and she often gets message delay notifications containing the text "Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed." From the messages that I've been able to find in her inbox, this has happened only when she's emailing AOL users. That leads me to assume that it's a problem on AOL's end (especially since my mother uses Hotmail's pay service), but if anyone has any input or solutions, I'd be appreciative.

Second, my mother, like I said, got a paid Hotmail account so that she could use Outlook Express to send and receive her Hotmail email. However, even though I've tried everything I can think of, I can't get OE to send mail via Hotmail's outgoing server. I get the error message "The server does not support the required HTTP methods (I'm using http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp and have checked multiple times to ensure that I have her account configured per Microsoft's instructions). Can anyone give me any suggestions? Would she do better just to have her Hotmail email forwarded to her Gmail account, which, presumably, would work just fine with OE?

Thank you very much, in advance.

    9. need help

      Date: 11/21/05     Keywords: linux

      hey :)
I'm probably stupid - maybe it's just caused by using windows since win 3.1 and something even before that, but I have a problem with switching into linux. I love my Mandriva, it's much better than anything else (fedora core 3 is evil) but when I try to install something new there's always something that I don't have on my disc and I have to find it and even when I find it, its not working so I'm tired because of all this things. Right now I have a double problem - I'm trying to install something - I have RPM and tgz version... I've tried both... and this is what I got:
      - RPM can't be installed due to lack of linux-gate (what the hell is it and how to install or create it??)
      - .tgz version needs python headers an I don't know which library's missing cause I've installed so many that I don't know which is which...
any of you can take me by the hand and lead through this compilations, installations and all of this creepy things??

and btw. I love my linux when it shows me logs like this one "missing script is too old or missing"

Looking for two more progs [freeware]:
1 - clipboard that makes it so I can have more then one bit preferably that would use or could use ctl+1..0 to save to each section and alt+1..0 to paste them out or adaptable so I can make it do it. Preferably able to do more then just text though not sure there's one that can do that.
2 - freeware version of macro express...

Anyone know anywhere that does something close as possible to apple's new dashboard thing for on a windows xp comp? Both home and pro preferably. Saw the apple dashboard on a show and though I detest apple the dashboard was sweet course so was that bit that made your windows all visible so you could click the one you were looking for.

      Date: 11/17/05     Keywords: no keywords

Unfortunately I paid the harsh price of P2P networking and caught a Trojan horse of some sort a while back. It’s long gone now but it left a mess or it seems to be a mess to me anyway

Windows XP no longer recognizes .exe files and wont let me open them. This is quite the pain in the ass if I do say so myself

      Any ideas?

      Date: 11/17/05     Keywords: no keywords

Someone burned a DVD for me. The video plays fine but for some reason there is no audio. :( The AUDIO_TS folder is empty but I'm told that it's supposed to be. The VIDEO_TS folder has a bunch of VOB/IFO/BUP files. I tried switching different programs but none of them would play the audio. Do I need some sort of audio filter or something? I think I have the AC3Filter installed. What am I doing wrong?
