A little off topic.
Ok so I let someone see my digital camera to review my pics.
well some how they deleted all of them.
I was wondering if there was a program or some trick or anything that could give me a chance to get my pictures back off my sd card
I have not taken another picture or modified it in any way since then.
I guess the data still there.

Oko IDDE and DB-manager now shareware
Date: 08/18/05
Keywords: programming, database, microsoft
We have finished testing Oko. It now becomes shareware. You can download an
evaluation copy and/or purchase a registered copy on-line: www.ploko.net.
Oko is a development tool for building Windows applications. It uses an
object-oriented programming language similar to C++ and has a rich set of
visual tools that
make application creation a relatively easy and intuitive task. Its
integrated development environment allows you to create a wide range of
functional units that can benefit both from the power of the language and
the versatility of the GUI tools. An efficient code generator makes your
source code compact and clear and lets you skip many explicit
initializations. At the same time, code generation is configurable, so that
you can insert your own code at any level, as well as turn off the automatic
generation of any of the components.
Oko has a set of visual database tools that use ODBC to connect to data
sources. It can generate data forms and provides a set of flexible data
controls to facilitate the creation of database applications. For many
tasks, Oko can replace systems such as Microsoft Access generating database
applications with no programming involved. The advantage of Oko is that its
applications are very compact, fast, and, of course, stand-alone. It also
has a built-in report generator.
Oko produces either Win32 executables or dynamic link libraries (DLLs) from
which you can export functions to be deployed in any other program. It
creates stand-alone executables that need no other modules to run.

strange clicking noises from my computer
Date: 08/18/05
Keywords: html, web
Hello everyone-
I've been somewhat carefully been using a windows XP SP2 desktop (80GB hard drive, 768RAM, 2.8Ghz celeron...etc) for the past one and a half years. I recently had to move back home because the residence halls closed (heh) so I moved everything back, including my computer. I thought all I suffred was a minor glass scratch on my monitor, but today my computer has started making clicking noises from the inside.
The only times I ever hear any kind of noise remotely close to this kind of clicking is when I turn my comptuer off, so I'm assuming that if it isn't the sound of my power supply (nothing to click in there, really) or my CPU fan, then it could possibly be my hard drive. But I'm not really sure...
I was playing Ragnarok Online (a 3D game) for about four hours when I noticed the "click" noises were getting more and more frequent, until one of he clicks was followed by another sound that sounded a lot like something that had stopped turning. By then the game was frozen, and when I promted the start menu to pop-up, I got... whoa.. a winNT blue screen of death. I haven't seen ones of those screens on this machine, ever.
I rebooted after the blue screen, hoping it was just a quirk, but the comptuer booted up making clicking noises from the inside of the machine, and then gave me a "No Operating System Found" error. I rebooted again, and this time when I heard the clicking, I tilted my box a bit and then let it land with thump. ...and then my computer booted normally.
Naturally, I was sort of concerned so I looked online about hard drives clicking (assuming it IS my hard drive. Maybe other devices in the comptuer are also capable of making clicking noises?) and I found this:
http://losangelescomputerhelp.com/computer_networking_news/hard-drive-clicking.html
...which of course sort of scared me, since I put all my useful computer stuff (including my spare crap computer) away in storage, and I really need my comptuer for tonight and tomorrow. It booted up for now though.. heh. ...But is this a serious problem? There are no clicking noises right now, and it seems like everything is OK, but I get the feeling the clicking noises will come back and, if that website isn't being too paranoid, that my hard drive might brake.
Anyone have experience with clicking noises coming from the tower? My hard drives (I have two wester digital drives in there = an 80GB master and a 160GB slave/each are less than two years old) have never made this kind of clicking noise, although I do know that the clicking noise is common in older hard drives. ..but this clicking was sporadic and scattered, unlike the natural clicking of older hard drives. oo;; please advise.

Okay, when I used to open my browser, my status bar was always there. Now it has disapeared. I had to keep on manually clicking the "Status bar" in the "view" drop down to see it. Is there anyway to always keep the status bar on? People were using my computer today and somehow now the status won't stay on.
I'm sorry, I'm not computer smart at all, and I was just hoping that someone could help me.

email transfer question
Date: 08/11/05
Keywords: no keywords
Hi, all - newbie here, obviously. I've tried googling these questions, as well as posting them (sort of) on my own journal, but it occurred to me to look for help on the communities, so this is cross-posted in a couple of places. My motherboard fried last week during a power surge, and I have bought a new laptop. The techies at my workplace have pulled the hard drive from my old computer, and say they can transfer all the data to the new one, in one folder that I can then sort through. (This, I think I can probably figure out/ be taught how to do.)
My new laptop operates on Windows XP, and I bought Office for Educators because it has Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint, the first two of which are absolutely necessary for me and the fourth of which is kinda useful for doing lectures. I love Firefox and will probably install it on this machine.
I have three major queries: the first is recovering up-to-date email address books off the two email programs that were on the old computer: the one on Netscape contains my partner's work contacts; the one on Incredimail (yes, I know: please don't yell, I thought it was pretty...) has all the contacts for my PhD thesis... How likely is it that we'll be able to recover the address books?
The second worry, however, is that the new computer will have Outlook on it. With Netscape, I could read my own email, and my partner could read his own, because it recognized multiple addresses. Does Outlook have this capability?
And finally: my techies are already worried about being able to make the actual emails readable. Which would be a pain: I've saved some pretty important school-related stuff in folders. Again, the two email programs on the old computer were Netscape and Incredimail. Does anyone know how, should my geeks fail, to transfer the physical emails from one program (Netscape, and Incredimail) to another (Outlook)?
Thanks for any advice/suggestions.

What is the best way to backup your computer?
Date: 08/10/05
Keywords: software
If I want to backup my windows box, what is the best way to do so? I don't want copies of just the files, but literally everything. A drive image of sorts. Although in this case, I want to burn it to DVD's.
There's about 16 gigs (documents and settings, program files, windows, etc) of data on the hard drive that I want to backup, and about 70 gigs of other files that I've already backed up by hand that I don't need to bother with.
What software would you recommend?
AMD 3200+ CPU
ASUS A7V880 mobo
1 gig PC3200 DDR ram
160 gig SATA hard drive
16x / 8x DVD burner (8x write)
50 or so DVD -R's

need help with SCO
Date: 08/10/05
Keywords: no keywords
Loading SCO 5.06 onto an Intel Socket T system with 1gb memory and a 29320A SCSI Controller. I managed to get the drivers loaded at boot for the scsi controller and it now recognizes the drives, but after it copies the files to the drive it asks for the BTLD floppy and i put it in and tell it to go and it comes back with an error stating that there is a mount problem and to retry or restart. No matter how many floppies or drives i try I get the same error, and SCO's support team has not called me back after I left them a message a few hours ago. Any ideas why it might not find the btld disk when it found it to get the drivers in the first place? i'm at a loss.

If I go back to 66.x drivers or earlier they play fine. Anyidea what causes this? Or is there just a bug in new Nvidia drivers?
