Who should Software Freedom sue on FAT32?
Date: 03/07/09
(Open Source) Keywords: linux, microsoft
Microsoft owns FAT32, but it didn't appear to pursue its rights against companies that supported FAT32 in their Linux thumb drives and consumer electronics. Until the TomTom case. At which point it comes out that Microsoft had secret cross-licensing deals with all those other guys which violate the GPL.

FaultImportOptions?
Date: 12/04/08
(C Sharp) Keywords: web, microsoft, google
I have just created web service in VS2008. I then created a project to act as a client for this service and tried to import a Service Reference using VS2008. I am getting the following error:
---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio
---------------------------
Failed to add Service Reference 'ServiceReference1.Reference'.
Error:Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.FaultImportOptions' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.
Please use Error List window to view the full error message.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
A Google search for FaultImportOptions brings up an MSDN page in Portugese, but nothing else. Browsing the System.ServiceModel assembly reveals no FaultImportOptions class or property.
Any ideas?

Computer CD-RW snafu
Date: 06/18/08
(Microsoft Windows) Keywords: web, microsoft
Ok, I had to run a System Restore on my computer to get rid of a bad update on the video drivers. The Video Card would keep shutting itself off within 2 minutes of booting up. After the system restore, which I only took it back a week, up until now, has seemed to be okay. The CD-RW and DVD-RW drives have been in the system for over a year. And up til now they've worked flawlessly.
But now, I cannot burn anything to either the CD-RW drive or the DVD-RW drive. I can read and listen to music just fine. I did do some diagnosing and found that for some reason, whenever I open or close either drive, the IMAPI System Files turn themselves off. I can click START to turn the service on, but as soon as I open that tray, the service turns itself off. I can turn it back on, but as soon as I close the tray drawer, it turns itself off. I can turn it back on after its shut, but the system just wont recognize that there is a cd in either tray. There is definitely a bug in the system someplace, I just need to find it. And the Recording option is not listed for either drive when I click on properties or device manager.
I have tried to download and reinstall new IMAPI drivers from the microsoft.com website, but that had no effect on it. Ive also tried to reinstall the drivers for the CD and the DVD drives, that didn't have any effect either.
I am completely at a loss of what to do next. Can anyone suggest any ideas?
