  2. Firefox extension compatibility help needed

    Date: 12/20/06     Keywords: no keywords

Follow up on this post mentioning extensions.checkCompatibility for Firefox.

Seems like setting that to "false" should mean your extensions won't be checked, so that's what I did.

But today when I was prompted to upgrade Firefox, I was surprised when several of the extensions came back as incompatible with the new version of Firefox and now won't work. I double-checked that it's set to false.

How can I keep my extensions from being deemed incompatible every time I'm prompted to upgrade?

  3. Question to Thunderbird

    Date: 12/13/06     Keywords: no keywords

    Hi!

I'm wondering if there is a way to do the following: Emails (in Inbox) that are older than a week, or so, moving into another folder (like "Archive") automaticly. Does someone know what I mean? The thing is I only have found a function to delete Emails, but I don't want them to be deleted - they shall just be archived. Is this possible in Thunderbird 1.5.0.8?

  5. Thunderbird Mail "Wrap"

    Date: 11/18/06     Keywords: no keywords

    Hi everyone,

I've received a couple of reports that my e-mail text is not "wrapping" properly when I send mail and my lines are either too long or the paragraphs are mushed up.

I can see the option to Re-Wrap a quote, but can't find where to solve the issue of standardising outgoing messages. Any ideas? (I'm using Thunderbird version 1.5)

    Thanks.

  6. making Firefox 2.0 think your extensions will work

    Date: 11/17/06     Keywords: web

Useful info for everyone. I have a ton of add-ons, and every time I upgrade, I lose one or more. I've been going in manually and bumping Spellbound, the spell check extension, for ages.

Well now, there's an add-on that will just make all your existing add-ons compatible with your current version of Firefox! It has other functions too but I don't program, so I don't really pay attention to them all.

  8. Thunderbird and livejournal

    Date: 11/15/06     Keywords: no keywords

Okay, I'm SURE this question has been asked many, many times. I looked on '[info]'mozilla's profile page for a link to a FAQ or anything, so after googling my issue and still coming up empty handed, I humbly ask it now.

I have installed Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 to use my gmail account, and everything is working great; except when I try to respond to a comment notification. I get an error message on livejournal saying:

One or more errors occurred processing your request. Please go back, correct the necessary information, and submit your data again.

    * Comment not posted: POST required, or missing parameter.

I believe the last time I ran into this I had to use an add-on for thunderbird. Any ideas?

  11. Where is SeaMonkey getting the name of my pic viewer from?

    Date: 10/27/06     Keywords: web

URL as found on the net that demonstrates this problem:
    http://www.al.mt.gov.br/intranet/BancoImagens/991/Alinor-1.jpg

You'd probably have to have GIMP 2.0 installed to see this problem exactly, but in any case, the URL above sends a JPG image while the webserver sending it swears its an application, so you ought to get a dialog box nonetheless.

SeaMonkey gives me a choice to:
Open with the default application (TheGIMP20)
    Open it with [FILLINBLANKBOX]
    Save it to disk.

OK, so the webmaster screwed up the JPG filetype and technically seamonkey is acting correctly, I've run into that before, its just one of those things and I guess its better to have the application follow standards. What's odd, however, is that opening the file with the default application has the same results as clicking on a file: it opens in windows picture and fax previewer.

So where is SeaMonkey getting the string "TheGIMP20" from, anyways?

Last I checked, it was called gimp-win-remote or something besides.

I'm (un?)downloading Slackware at -45.4KB/sec? Thats nowhere near as fast as the 170KB/sec I was getting when I started the file... Hey, wait a minute...

Who's the idiot who decided to use a signed 32bit int, without bothering to do any sanity checks, as the means to represent the size of a downloadable file, in a product released well after the invention of the DVD and DVD-ROM?

It *is* possible for a computer to know about numbers beyond the limits of the processor in use, ya know. Were it not, the first spreadsheets on home computers would have declared everyone bankrupt had they accumulated more than $127 ($1.27?) in their accounts...

Great Scott! Marty, do you realize this download may not be finished until the year 1985?

  16. Firefox and OS X

    Date: 08/20/06     Keywords: web

I recently got a new Apple computer and downloaded Firefox. I've been running Firefox on Windows and OS X for a while now, and have never really run into any major problems. However, Firefox has been closing whenever I've tried to load certain websites. I've tried reopening the program and trying again, and restarting my computer, but the same few websites cause the program to close. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?

  17. Inbox obliterated

    Date: 08/18/06     Keywords: spam

I turned on my computer this morning, got Thunderbird started on checking my mail, & went to get some coffee. When I returned, my computer was in mid-reboot..come to find out that Windows Update had been busy updating. Grr.

I open Thunderbird, & it just hangs there.."program not responding"..sheesh. Close it, open it back up (and it appears to open okay), set it to check mail, & am a bit concerned when my inbox appears empty..hmm okay, maybe it's taking a minute to load up. Nope..one single e-mail (spam, no less) loads up & that's it..all of the previously existing contents of my inbox had vanished.

Is there any way I can recover these (some very important) e-mails or am I screwed? Oh, I'm running Windows XP Home, for the record.

  18. Two Thunderbird Questions

    Date: 08/14/06     Keywords: no keywords

    1) Is there an extension that will allow me to use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate among all messages, rather than just unread ones?

    2) Is there any good way to keep multiple instances of thunderbird synced? I have two computers (a laptop and a desktop - three if you count my old laptop, whence I still need to migrate my archives) and would love to be able to keep the two synced as far as what messages are where, so that it's easier to use both to read and answer email.

  19. Disable specific javascripts?

    Date: 08/11/06     Keywords: browser, java

Is there any way to disable a specific javascript command in Firefox?

I'm not sure if it's actually possible to do something like this, but I am looking for a way to have Firefox disable a specific javascript command. I would like to disable the "window.location.replace" javascript. If I surf from page X to page Y and it uses "window.location.replace" to redirect me to page Z, then page Y does not appear in my history. I would like a way to prevent the javascript from modifying my browser history in that manner (and I am willing to disable automatic redirection if necessary).

Ultimately what I am after is to have an accurate record of what URLs I have visited, regardless of whether I was automatically redirected or not. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
