question on theme list
Date: 07/30/06
Keywords: no keywords
hi, i just installed thunderbird on my computer yesterday (i've got mac osx 10.3.9) and was getting new themes for it, but accidentally installed a thunderbird theme on firefox (phoenity thunderbird 0.2.3 if that helps). it doesn't work or anything, but i can't seem to delete it from the themes list either. has anyone had a similar problem? i have the newest versions of both firefox and thunderbird, so i'm guessing it's a glitch of some sort.

Livejournal Has No Style to It!
Date: 07/29/06
Keywords: no keywords
I recently reformatted my Hard Drive, and upon reinstalling Firefox, something weird happened. Every site works perfectly -- except livejournal. Livejournal looks as though it has No Style Sheet to it! Like, if you were to go up to View/PageStyle/NoStyle? That's sort of what it looks like.
I've tried reinstalling firefox, to no avail!
Little Help?

firefox taking too long to load web pages
Date: 07/24/06
Keywords: web
Hello all. I'm using Firefox (version 1.0.5.4) and I'm really happy with it most of the time, but recently, it's been taking an extremely long time loading web pages on one site that I have a profile set up. All other pages on this site load fine, normal speed and all, but when I try to log in to my profile page, nothing happens or I get the "problem loading page" page that pops up. Is there some way to fix this?

Bug in Mozilla
Date: 07/23/06
Keywords: no keywords
The "Forward" history is erased if one goes back to a page that includes a meta-refresh or some other form of redirect.
This is a problem, as it makes the interface unusable as intended. "Forward" should function until the user actually clicks something. Use of "Back" should never make "Forward" not work, otherwise, whats the point in having "Forward" to begin with?!?

A really weird problem.

I, for the life of me, cannot get Firefox to start all of a sudden. I'm running XP Pro, btw. So I open up the task manager, and there it is sitting in the processes menu. So I kill it and try to open it again. Won't open. So I think it's maybe the shortcut or something, so I open up the Program Files directory on the C drive and directly double click on the EXE. CPU usage goes to 100%, which is not news for the starting of Firefox for me, and then it dies down. Still doesn't open. I restart my computer. Still not opening. Try reinstalling it with the latest version (IE still works for me). Not happening. Firefox just plain won't open. So I restart again for good measure. Nope, not happening for me. Thunderbird still works for me, so any responses sent to this post will be seen. I can't tell you what extensions and themes I'm running because 'fox won't open and there's a hella long list. I haven't added any new ones lately anyways. I refuse to run IE. So any help is and will be appreciated.

Disappearing bookmarks
Date: 07/06/06
Keywords: no keywords
I had to manually shut down my computer earlier today because it froze up. I didn't realize until about an hour ago, when I attempted to go to one of my bookmarked sites, that EVERY bookmark has turned into dust. This includes the default bookmarks. When I drop down the list, it has the add and manage bookmarks, and "BookMarks Toolbar Folder," which is empty.
I read through and followed the instructions on this entry, but the bookmarks.bak file only has the default bookmarks. I am on my correct default profile as well (my first thought was 'oh, this has happened before, it just switched profiles on me!'-- nope).
So, are my bookmarks really dust, or is there something else I can do to retrieve them? This is one of a long line of computer mishaps I've had today, I think I may go insane.

interview with the kid that started firefox

Q: Microsoft essentially allowed Internet Explorer to go dormant for several years, until Firefox started coming along and chipping away at its market share. What do you think about that, and what does that say about the state of competition?
Ross: That makes me furious, to be completely honest with you. That, more than anything, is why we really had to start Firefox in the first place.[...]
The truth is I think Microsoft is very directly responsible for spyware and adware and the pop-up ads in general that proliferated across the Web after they abandoned their product [Internet Explorer]. I mean, this is the world's most-used software application ever ... and I just think it's irresponsible for a company to abandon it simply because they can't find a financial incentive to continue development on it.

I've got DownThemAll! for Firefox, and I'm trying to download some screencaps from a Photobucket gallery...is there a way to download the full size pictures all at once? Or am I resigned to go through and save them all individually (which is why I downloaded the extension...)

updated--lost search engines
Date: 06/26/06

I updated to Firefox 1.5 and didn't lost anything except my search engines.
Thankfully, I thought to back them up before I updated (along with my bookmarks!) so can I just drag that folder back into the program file folder, or do I have to download them all again?
Thanks.

The management has returned....

The management has returned. I've been out of town, in and out of surgery, out to lunch on painkillers, and in and out of more can be described in a conveniently short sentence. It's nice to see we've grown some 60 users in the intervening year. Welcome! Y'all. I drawl.
Please, review the community rules, because I'll be back to enforce them. If any of you think it's time to dispose of any; feel free to comment. After a year, you've all got a good idea of what is and is not still annoying.

limit on bookmarks?
Date: 06/20/06
Keywords: no keywords
Firefox downloaded a new version of itself - 1.5.0.4 - onto my computer today, and in the process, deleted the latter third or so of my bookmarks. Is there some kind of limit on how big one's bookmarks file can be? I have a backup of my bookmarks, so I can restore the ones that were deleted, but I am concerned.
Thank you for any help that the members of this community can give me.

Changing mail folder in Thunderbird

Keywords: no keywords
Hello!
I would like to change folders for my mail accounts in Thunderbird, cause I wanna to store them on the main PC of our network, so all other PCs with running Thunderbirds could access them. Is it possible? I have tried to do it under Preferences of the mailbox, but it failed - I have received emails, but they have not been stored in the new folder. Do you have any tricks?
Thank you!

Problem with Bookmarks and Mozilla preferences.
Date: 06/15/06
Keywords: google
I have a problem with my bookmarks. This isn't the usual "Help me, my bookmarks are missing" post though; surfing through the back pages helped with that. Close to a month back I updated Firefox so that I'm now running on 1.5.0.4 and ever since then I've been having problem saving pages like I used to. I hit Ctrl+D to add the bookmark and that works fine, but when I click on that little arrow next to the Create In bar (So I can save it directly to a folder in a folder in a folder) nothing happens except that I can suddenly make a New Folder apparently. I've even stretched the box to see if it's opening it but not stretching it on it's own. It's not. Anyone have even the slightest clue how to fix it?
This is what happens when I bring up the Add Bookmark:
This is what happens when I hit the arrow:
This is what happens when I stretch the box:
My next problem is with Mozilla not saving my preferences. Every time I open Mozilla I have to reset my preferences (Maximize the window, add on the del.icio.us buttons, replacing Firfox toobar with Google toolbar and hiding the other part of the Google toolbar) and they never stay. Every single time I open Firefox I have to do this again because it resets back to what I assume is its default. It does this when I already have a window open, when I don't when I restart the computer... There isn't anything I can seem to find on my own to make any of this stay.
Mozilla up with my preferences all fixed up nice:
Mozilla (New window with the fixed-up one in background) without my preferences, the exact way it loads:
Is there anyone here able to help me at all with either of these?

Thunderbird / LJ Question

When I try to reply to an LJ comment that I have received a notice for via email in Thunderbird (using the provided form in the email), I get an error.
Firefox opens up as you'd expect, but then it says:

One or more errors occurred processing your request. Please go back, correct the necessary information, and submit your data again.

Anyone know why it doesn't work to reply from the email in thunderbird? I've done it before on Yahoo webmail with no problems. I have to click "Reply at the Webpage" to reply currently... and I always forget.

Login at LJ

Hi,
I've been using Firefox for over two weeks now, without any problems. Recently I experienced a problem with the login at LJ though. Both the standard and the secure login at LJ with Firefox display uncompiled code in the end instead of my start page. So I'm actually writing this post on good old IE. What's wrong there with the login? Can anybody help me? Also, I do not see this problem at other password protected sites.
