Date: 10/11/05 (Java Web)    Keywords: blogging, web, google

Everyone today is talking about Web 2.0. In the post-dotcom era several concepts were re-defined, old ideas re-emerged with new variations. Does that make it Web 2.0 or is it yet another faux-meme and marketing hype? Let's explore… O'Reilly roughly defines Web 2.0 with the following transformations: Web 1.0   Web 2.0 DoubleClick –> Google AdSense Ofoto –> Flickr Akamai –> BitTorrent mp3.com –> Napster Britannica Online –> Wikipedia personal websites –> blogging evite –> upcoming.org and EVDB domain name [...]

  5. Full Content RSS Feeds Compounding the Splog Problem?

Date: 10/21/05 (Java Web)    Keywords: blogging, rss, spam

It appears to me full content RSS feeds are actually helping and compounding the splog (spam blog) problem. Splogs or spam blogs are blogs which are created by using syndicated content of other blogs, automatically aggregated, to increase their PR and AdSense dollars. Splogs don't add value to the system, rather devalue the whole blogging [...]

  9. RSS Feeds...

Date: 11/02/05 (Mozilla)    Keywords: blogging, web

To those who had been following '[info]'sunbird_news, the blogging is now in a new blog at MozillaZine under the title Calendar Weblog, available at '[info]'mozine_cal_blog.

While at MozillaZine getting the new URL, I looked over the other blogs to find a good one to add as a feed.  It ultimately came down to Blogzilla, a blog of tips and news for the Mozilla line.  I entered the URL on the syndication page, and found it already had readers.  So I'm just getting the word out there about '[info]'blogzilla_feed.

    Happy Wednesday!

I found this hilarious blog entry (in present context) by Marc Fleury against RedHat via Blogging Roller site. He adorns RedHat with some choice epithets which I am sure he wouldn't like to be reminded in present context. So understandably his blog has been sanitized but Google cache isn't so kind. 17. Greymatter categories?

Date: 04/10/06 (Web Development)    Keywords: blogging, web

Question, because it isn't totally obvious on the Greymatter website. Can I organize entries not by date, but in categories? I am working on a recipe site, and the user needs a content management system that is easy to use and update. I immediately through of Greymatter. However, she also needs to be able to put the recipes in sections (ie, entrees, desserts, appetizers). Is this possible with Greymatter (before I go in and try to make it happen)? If not, is there a good mod to do this with?

Are there any other free, open-source blogging systems that can achieve this result while still being 100% customisable and integratable that I do not know of?

Thanks for any help you can provide!
