1. Blogging

I know some of you are fabulous bloggers.  Have any of you found blogging software that allows threads (ie instead of just comments to the original post, they can or I can respond to them directly)?  What about blogging software that automatically updates the blog, like for example, a mirror like if I post in livejournal for example, the post would also automatically be made in a seperate blog outside of livejournal.  Frankly, I wanted to use livejournal for my blog, but they don't allow non-members to comment except anonymously and I don't want my friends outside of livejournal to have to make anonymous comments.

This is what I've got so far!

  3. Help me. :(

    Date: 11/28/07 (Mozilla)    Keywords: web

I don't know what the hell is up with my laptop lately, and I'm not sure if it's had something to do with FireFox magically not working, but maybe someone here can help a gal out.
FireFox updated itself yesterday, and now when I open it, I get an unable to connect error stating:

    # The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

    # If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    # If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It's most definitely not the first two bullets. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem who could possibly tell me what to do? I loathe IE.

I have Vista, by the way.

  4. not EXACTLY web related, but here we go...

Date: 11/29/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: browser, web

Don't know if anyone's had this problem before or anything, and it seems to be just my computer, but you never know. SO, I'm asking here anyway.

Yesterday I changed the name addresses on a domain name at godaddy.com to point to the webpage I'm working on.
By the end of the night, I was at someone elses house, and checked to see if it worked. It did.
BUT, I am home now on my computer, and it's not working.
I have cleared all my information and cookies on the browser like godaddy.com suggested, and it still doesn't work. Not only that, but it's not just that browser that isn't working.
ALL of the browsers on my computer aren't working. They all show the godaddy.com parking page instead of the page I created, but I know for a fact it is pointing to the right one.

So, this isn't really a webpage question, I think.
I need to see what I'm doing when I work on the page, obviously.
http://www.haddadbakery.com is the domain name, just so you can see for yourself.
I don't know if it matters, but I'm on an intel macintosh computer.
I'm asking here because this is somewhat related and maybe someone has had this problem before...

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

  7. Questions about ATI Radeon X550 Drivers and pros and cons of hard drive brands

Date: 12/01/07 (Computer Help)    Keywords: web, google

Recently, I've been posting on my journal about my problematic hard drive, which seems to have had troubles getting itself read. I found out that the hard drive was dying, and so Im looking to buy a new one.

So one question I want to ask is how a hard drive dies, exactly. In my case, I have two drives, one with the OS, and another without. When I boot up the computer, I get a message saying Disk Boot Failure (and something about inserting my boot disk). The technician was telling me it was dying already because the thing doesn't seem to want to be read, but then... I don't know, I guess I just want to know why my hard drive died after only a year and 11 months. :(

Second, Can you guys suggest a hard drive brand for me, or better yet, help me weigh the pros and cons between a Seagate type and a Western Digital type? The shop near my house basically sells those two brands, and I'm not sure what the differences are, besides price. Expect both to have a year-long warranty, if that makes any difference to you guys.

Note: I live in the Philippines, so prices are a little different here. For the sake of weighing the pros and cons, assume I can afford a 320 GB hard drive of any brand.

On the video card side, I was hoping someone could direct me to the website for the Device Drivers for my ATI Radeon X550. I'm not sure what I'm looking at when I check google, and I heard something about a Catalyst driver, whatever that means.

Hopefully it'll make my gaming experience with NWN2 a lot smoother.

    Firefox churns to version 2.0.0.11

Mozilla on Friday released the third update to Firefox this month, version 2.0.0.11, to fix a stability problem in the previous version.

"We strongly recommend that all Firefox users upgrade to this latest release," a post on the Firefox developer blog said.

The open-source Web browser update arrived swiftly after version 2.0.0.8, released October 18, version 2.0.0.9 from November 1, and version 2.0.0.10 from November 26. Which explains why I'm getting a lot of software update messages from my Web browser.

Version 2.0.0.10 broke a feature that lets images be displayed with special effects such as rotated pictures and image reflections, according to Mozilla's bug-tracking site. The problem was fixed within a day and distributed within five, but not before some whose sites were affected by the bug had voiced frustration.

"Customers are complaining because their Firefox automatically updated to 2.0.0.10 and now they can no longer order photo prints in our shop. I think this is a very serious problem and I hope it will be fixed immediately in a 2.0.0.11 update," a post by Klaus Reimer said.

In an indirect response, Firefox coder Nick Thomas pointed to mailing lists that people can use to test their sites with imminent new Firefox versions. Thomas also said that the five-day turnaround is "the fastest turnaround between Firefox releases to date."

As long as the Mozilla coders are stamping out bugs, one that's annoyed me has become more prominent of late because it shows up when I install a Firefox update.

When I restore my Firefox browser sessions upon rebooting my computer, it's impossible to get rid of the "You've been updated to the latest version of Firefox" page. Even if I close that tab, it comes back later, so I have to start with a clean browsing slate to make it go away. It's not a stability or security problem, but it's not a credit to what is a notably influential project.

Mozilla released the first beta version of Firefox 3, called Gran Paradiso, less than two weeks ago. The second Firefox 3 beta should be done in "late December" if all goes well, according to another Mozilla developer blog post Friday.
