MySQL Version issue with Timestamp
Date: 02/10/06
(MySQL Communtiy) Keywords: mysql, software, sql, web, google
Hi...
I have googled, dev.mysql.com'ed, RTFM and stuff, and I'm a little frustrated, I hope someone here knows the definitive answer.
We developed our web-based software on version 3.23.41 where the timestamp format is YYYYMMDDHHMMSS, I'm sure you know the drill.
Now, we're migrating to a new server, with 4.1.12 and the timstamp default format is %Y-%m-%d %H:%i:%s
The big question: Can I change this version of MySQL (I do have root access) to use the old type of timestamp format?
If so, How? Or, can you point me to a resource that explains it?
Again, I have tried google, dev.mysql.com, etc. I apologize if this is a dumb question, but so far all sources point to it just being the format and nothing I can do. I kinda don't believe that, as it sounds like an inflexibility that would cause other developers to run into problems upgrading....unless of course, I am doing it all wrong!
Any help is appreciated.

group calendars
Date: 02/15/06
(Computer Geeks) Keywords: software
Hi all,
I've been asked to setup a group oriented calendar program so that various teachers can see each others schedules. Normally this isn't a big deal, but we have some complications. For starters, half the computers are mac, half are PC. The ability to import and export from various email clients like outlook or thunderbird is important. The ability to sync from handhelds to these clients is also important. Most of what I've found either don't support importing, which would lead to much double-entry, or they are bundled into very large software packages like Exchange which we don't need. I've been looking at Mozilla Sunbird, but I've run into some issues getting that to talk to the handhelds.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

win32reg.exe problem

(Microsoft Windows) Keywords: cms, php, software, html, java, virus, microsoft, google, ebay
Yesterday, my roomy's 'puter kept freezing up. AVG found 2 viruses but it closed out and she didn't know what they were or where they went.
I attempted to run Ad-Aware but everytime it starts running, the computer restarts. So, I deleted all of the programs in the Control Panel that she didn't need, deleted the cookies, deleted all of the internet files she didn't need, restarted, and the computer seemed to work fine.
However, today she said "Win32reg.exe" keeps popping up a screen. I had already installed Google's Toolbar and so that is the same pop up blocker she uses. I ran Hijack This and got this:

touchpad & mouse aren't working
Date: 02/20/06
(Computer Help) Keywords: software
hello, i'm sarah and i just joined. i need some help.
i apologize in advance if anything like this has been addressed recently, i'm just kind of desperate and totally confused and i've been searching the internet for answers to no avail, so i may have overlooked something here. but here's my problem.
my mom has a HP laptop and a few weeks ago, the touchpad just stopped working. i tried the wireless mouse we have with it, and it worked fine, so i put off trying to fix the touchpad because she was fine using the mouse. yesterday, i found a possible solution to the touchpad problem. first, it said to try and see if the touchpad would work in safe mode. so i turned on safe mode, and it didn't work. then i restarted the computer, but then the mouse wouldn't work either. i've tried restarting over and over, and i've tried both safe mode and normal mode, but neither the touchpad nor the mouse work at all anymore. i don't know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue or if the two are even related. i unscrewed some things and looked at as much as i could, but nothing seemed obviously wrong and so i put everything back together and now i'm just completely baffled. i can't mess around with settings on the computer because, obviously, my touchpad and mouse don't work.
any ideas? taking it somewhere to find out what's wrong and try to get it fixed will be a last resort and something we may not be able to do for a while because we don't really have the money, so anything i may be able to try at home right now would be great. thanks in advance. :)

HTMLview problems with WMP10 due to security updates?
Date: 02/21/06
(WebDesign) Keywords: software, browser, html, security, web, microsoft
Ok. This is a odd one...
In addition to running a web design firm, I also own a Classic Rock station. I've got a neat feature called "The 8 Track Player" which shows whats playing as well as the last 7 songs. This is a stand alone browser window that the visitor to the site opens.
This will also open inside Windows media player if a visitor chooses to listen to the station with that software (the station runs shoutcast natively).
until a week or so ago, the refresh code that I have was working fine in both stand-alone and Windows Media Player (WMP) but now the WMP does not refresh yet the stand-alone does.
Both stand alone and WMP use the same code, and there's not been any changes to the code.
The refresh method I am using is:
My theory is that MS has with a security update with Windows XP or WMP 10 changed something that does not allow the VB or Meta to work.
a) does anyone know something about this problem?
b) is there a good place to ask this in-depth question? Have posted on microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player.web already.
c) do you think my meta tag or vbscript have an error in it that was working before in WMP with HTMLView until a tightening of code control was implemented?
Thanks,
Chris
