1. Photo Gallery

Date: 01/09/06 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, templates, mysql, css, html, sql, java, spam

I've been hunting all around for a decent photo gallery. There seem to be quite a few different projects, some of which are still active, available. None of them seem to accomplish what I'm looking for, though. I have tested quite a few, but all are lacking. To this end, I thought I'd ask here if anyone has anything similar to what I've been looking for.

    Major Features:
Abstracts image URLs - hides the path and filename to prevent direct access
Public/private flags - allows some images to stay hidden
Tags - I'd like to be able to tag the images ala del.icio.us, LJ, Flickr
Does not require gd - auto-thumbnails and watermarks can be disabled
Traverses directories - new images can be dropped in a subfolder or the root image folder and will be picked up automatically
Comments - allows for public (configurable) or private comments, either ties into phpbb or uses some sort of email validation/captcha scheme to reduce spam
EXIF - extracts all image data form the photographs and can display it
    Uses simple cacheable CSS/XHTML templates
Does not store images in DB
Uses MySQL or abstraction layer that allows MySQL for comments, tags, etc
Takes reasonable measures to be secure and speedy

    Minor Features:
    Users can upload images
    Temporary/expiring image URLs for sharing
Hotlinking configuration - allow all, deny all, allow specific sites
    User-switchable templates
Javascript navigation and image pop-ups optional
Keeps stats on a pre image basis - top keywords, views, etc
All images can be watermarked automatically
    Thumbnails may be re-generated automatically
Can assign/rename/describe multiple photos at once

I'm sure there are more details, but that should give a start. The scripts I've found so far are either too simple and don't have many features or too complex and require components and methods of use that I won't be using. There are a few others that store the images in the DB, which is something I'm definately against. I want to be able to FTP a directory of images and know that it will be online and ready to go as soon as the transfer is complete, or that it takes a simple click to do a rescan so they are available.

If I have to, I'll start from scratch... I was just hoping that there would be something available that I have not yet found that could serve as a foundation to build from.

    Thanks

Can someone help me out with a spam protection?
How do I make a query like this:
    if $blahblah CONTAINS (http:// || www. || something) { do something }

So, it's not an exact match, but something that matches anything of the submitted text. It's for a spam protection in a MySQL Guestbook, if that helps...

    Thnx! :)

  5. Fake email

Date: 01/27/06 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: web, spam

A company I part-own owns a very valuable domain (web.us). I turned on a catch-all email box such that every piece of email addressed to anyone at web.us gets dropped into a box. I was curious what kind of stuff would be addressed there.

Seems that there's a metric assload of people who put someone@web.us as their email address when signing up somewhere that's likely to get them spam.

Somewhere near 5000 spams per day. Impressive. Very impressive.

But the scary part is how much of a geek I must be to find this impressive.

I'll likely turn it off tomorrow. :-)

Date: 02/14/06 (Web Development)    Keywords: web, spam

I'm doing a very lame thing right now at work that involves me punching numbers into web-based forms that access a company site/DB. Since I don't have access to the DB source, I want to know how to automate the process from the data going into it.

Can anyone suggest a tutorial or pre-fab program that will fill out web forms automatically? (and no, I'm NOT using it for spam!!) If I were to write such a thing myself, what language would be best to use?

  13. Exchange2003 replication or something.

Date: 02/24/06 (IT Professionals)    Keywords: software, spam

I just need a little clue/best practice info.

My main office has an exchange server that hosts multiple email domains

the primary domain for most people is domainA.com and secondary wouldbe be domainB.com.cn

    --
My company is starting up a new office in china, since access mail via pop3/OWA/terminal services is a pain due to frequent large attachments (>15mb), I've decided to setup a exchange2003 server in china.

    These are my aims.

I'd like things done so that I don't have to pay for a second antispam software etc.

in otherwords, I'd like all mail to be received by my main mail server, archived/journalled , then mail for domainB.com.cn is replicated/relayed over to the china server, for some users who operate in both domainA.com domainB.com.cn, to replicate their domainA.com mailbox over as well.

when mail is sent at the domainB.com.cn server, it should be relayed back to the main office to be journalled then sent out

    What are your suggestions?

  16. Looking for a Good Contact Form Script

Date: 03/27/06 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, web, spam

I'm pretty new to PHP, meaning I stick to scripts that other people write :P

Anyway, I'm using a PHP script for a contact form on my website. However, I sometimes get emails from various non-existing email addresses on my domain, so I'm thinking that spammers are using my contact form to send out spam :(

Does anyone know of a contact form script that prevents spammers from doing that? Preferably a script that allows me to choose which fields are required and which aren't and also makes sure that whatever is entered in the email field actually contains the @ sign.

Hope I explained it well enough and that someone out there is able to help. Because I would hate to think that my domain is being used to email spam :[

  18. Sending HTML e-mail from Lotus Notes

Date: 04/07/06 (WebDesign)    Keywords: software, html, spam

This is a really specific question, so I know there's probably a slim chance, but I'm hoping someone here has had experience with trying to send html e-mail from Lotus Notes.

The plan was to put together and html e-mail and save it as "Stationery" (Note's version of a Template) for our sales reps to use to personally send out to individual contacts (rather than blasting SPAM). I didn't look into sending HTML e-mail through Notes (the system our company is all on) until after I put together the design. Now, after researching for a quarter of my workday yesterday, I come up blank. From what I gather, it's not possible to send HTML e-mail through Notes until version 6 (we're on 5), and even then, it requires some major scripting (not my forte, and not ideal for sales reps either!).

Can anyone confirm that it is just not possible, or should I keep researching? Is there third party software that we could use with Notes to do this? And would it break the bank to get it for multiple users (all of our sales reps)?

If the HTML is a no go:
Has anyone had any success using the Table and Import Image features to design e-mail with embedded images, and do e-mail clients outside of Notes handle these e-mails, or do they just break them up into a bunch of attachments?
