  2. Sharepoint 07 Calendar size

Date: 10/11/07 (IT Professionals)    Keywords: web

     Hi,

I'm trying to figure out a way to make the calendar, as it appears in a webpart, smaller without ending up with scroll bars.  I'd love to know if it can be shrunk, or if the sat/sun columns could be removed, anything really, because I'd like to have it not take up a huge chunk of my page.

    Any help would be great.

  3. Can you nest min-heights?

Date: 10/11/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: browser, css, web

I have a webpage I'm building where the background has one color, and the content, offset from the center, has a different color behind it.

My content is dynamic, so I can't specify different CSS classes based on the page.

For long pages, I need the background colors to reach from the top of the browser to the bottom... simple, add a "min-height" to the body and let the color stretch with the content on the child div.

But if I want to have this same set-up on short pages, the min height will stretch the bodys color but the childs background color stays short and just around the content. If I change the bodys and child to height:100%, it'll work, but the color will stop on long pages where you have to scroll. And apparently you can't nest min-heights, to have both body and child have a minimum height of 100%.

I tried doing the "faux-columns" effect by adding a repeating background image to the body which would have a min-height 100% added. But the problem is my content is offset from center, and I can't position (I think) offset from center.

I've also tried not defining heights anywhere but the child div, and have the child div have a min-height:100%, but that apparently won't expand the parent elements.

I feel like I'm missing something simple. Help!

  5. SMS service

Date: 10/13/07 (PHP Community)    Keywords: web

I'd like to set up a service that sends SMS's to my customers, and is capable of receiving messages back from them (i.e. replies for invitations). I've tried a bunch, but I can't seem to find a reasonable service. Can someone recommend a good one (for the USA)?

    Here are services I tried:
    1) Teleflip. Free, but reliability is terrible.
    2) SimpleWire. Want $800 to set up an evaluation license.
    3) Clickatell.com wants $1700/month for a shortcode, and says that without a shortcode, there's no way to get 2-way messaging in the US with them.
    4) SMSXchange.com is almost, almost perfect - everything works, no crazy setup fees... Just the messages that they receive from the cell phones can be in no way correlated to what was sent in the original message (i.e. I dont' know which invitation my user is responding to - there can be several outstanding invitations per user).

    Any advice?

A competition among autonomous robotic agents that have to rescue
three rally teams lost in the desert during the last Lisbon-Dakar
rally. Cars send a localization RF beacon that is used to guide the
rescue agents. No GPS info is available. Each agent can only rescue
one team. Which team will be rescued first in order to continue the
    race asap?

Make your own team and participate in this challenge by programming
the rescue agent to reach the beacon and return. It is a great way to

test your skills in reactive real-time programming.

Technically, the rules are similar to last year rules (check the
website). The tools are all available so that you can develop and
    test you robotic agent.

Stay tuned. We will keep you posted. If you already have an interest

  13. image galleries

Date: 10/16/07 (PHP Community)    Keywords: mysql, database, sql, web

    hi all!

I'm in need of an image gallery script, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I've been browsing around and testing a few and can't quite find one that matches what i need.

i need to be able to upload the photos via the website, for thumbnails to be created and then clicking on the thumbnail takes you to the full size image.

However, all the scripts i've found, when making the thumbnails, make them square, where as i'd prefer it to be more dynamic. So say each thumbnail had a height of 90px, and the width was determined from the full size image, rather than being fixed to 90px aswell. That way when displayed on the page, tall images don't look squashed.

Any scripts out there like that? I don't mind if it is linked to a mysql database or not, tho most don't seem to be.

Ideally it would be seperated into admin area and display area, so that i can customize the look of the displayed photo pages.

    Date: 10/17/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: web

It's been awhile since I've dabbled in webdesign, the last time I officially did... was well, hell a long time ago and on a completely different computer element called MSNTV. I used to be able to gather loads and loads of easy to follow websites through the search engine there with ease however I can't seem to find any website that makes the different types of webdesign stuff make much sense. I can also blame this on my brain, it seems to have come to a downfall of hell.

Anyway, all I'm asking is what websites or guides have you used in order to get started or back on track? Not just the usual here's your colored background and well placed text, pictures and stuff either. I'd appreciate any websites you can direct me to. Thanks. 3>
