Google’s Profits, Powered By Strong Search Advertising, Doubled in Q2
Date: 07/21/06
(Java Web) Keywords: yahoo, google
Google’s profits more than doubled in the second quarter, as the company continued to increase its share of the lucrative search advertising market.
The company, which announced results yesterday, exceeded analysts’ expectations for both sales and profit. That is in contrast to Yahoo, which disappointed Wall Street Tuesday with lower-than-expected revenue from search-related advertising. Yahoo met [...]

Anyone ever do any work with these Small Business sites? I'm trying to customize the search results pages. Seems the results come out and does not publish the "final-text" area where the footer is.
Site is at www.4speedmotorsports.com. Search is at www.4speedmotorsports.com/nsearch.html

Shopping Site
Date: 08/01/06
(Web Development) Keywords: web, yahoo, shopping
Hey guys,
I'm building a shopping site for a small business that wants a marketplace (shopping cart, credit card payments, etc) integrated with its inventory system. The site needs to have order processing, shipping tools, and inventory management features. Kind of like Amazon.com on a micro scale.
I found a couple of companies that offer solutions to web developers with this focus. Yahoo Small Business (www.smallbusiness.yahoo.com) looks pretty convenient. It uses step-by-step guides to walk the new users through the sign up process and there are other visual tools to compare their services. I also checked out Paypal's site but found that site to be incredibly complicated, especially after seeing Yahoo's site.
All things being equal, I'm leaning towards using Yahoo when I'm setting up the shopping site. But I just thought I'd come here and ask if you know of any other companies out there that you found easy to work with and would recommend.
THANKS!!

Weird internet connection error.
Date: 08/29/06
(Computer Help) Keywords: browser, web, yahoo
Riddle me this, Batman, because it certainly confuses me, and I can't seem to get my cable company's tech support to understand what I'm trying to tell them.
At times-- most recently last night, after a minor brownout-- I selectively lose cable connectivity. I say "selectively" because what I lose is almost* everything having to do with a web browser. Other apps-- multiplayer games, instant messaging services, file sharing programs, etc.-- all work fine, but if it requires a browser, it's toast. This is true with AOL's built-in browser, versions of IE from 5-7, and Firefox, running Windows98 and XP (Home and Pro).
* I can, occsionally, get part of a page to load-- e.g., I let a page load go for five and a half minutes and got the top text from www.yahoo.com, and a placeholder or two for images before it timed out.
The systems are connected to a Linksys cable router, with a Motorola Surfboard modem between it and the wall. The router and modem are obviously working correctly, because I'm getting throughput from everything but the browsers.
Anyone seen anything like this, and know how to fix it? I have power-cycled everything until I'm blue in the face, and I'm assuming that there's nothing wrong ont he cable company's end, since non-browser proggies are working.
TIA.

Help?
Date: 08/30/06
(WebDesign) Keywords: web, yahoo
Hello, I'm just hoping to get some help here!
I'm in no way a web designer, so please be patient. My buddy and I just wanted to start a silly website, and so I have been trying to put it together.
The only thing that I can't really figure out is how to get the blog on the website. I've gone the tutorial/faq route, and really I have no idea where to begin. If someone can help me get the blog running on the page, I would REALLY appreciate it and could paypal you $20 for your troubles. Obviously I can't afford a web designer, heh. This one small thing is the only thing to stump me!
To put it simple (the only way I know how!), here is what I need help with:
I just got this typepad account:
http://wendywayrad.typepad.com/
I want the blog entries from that account to show up on the front page of my website. I already fixed up the template of the blog, making it how I want it to be on my website:
http://wendywayrad.com/
So, where it reads: "Go away! I ain't done yet... come back in LATE September..." that is where I want my blog entries to show up. I was reading up on domain mapping, but I don't want the blog template to cover up the rest of the stuff I have on the front page of my website, I just want the blog to be placed UNDER the link boxes on my website. I quickly made this in paint, to show where I want the blog entries to be:
Anyone care to help me out? I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm a quick learner! I just need someone to explain things to me in SIMPLE terms, the online tutorials have been a bit confusing/overwhelming for me as I don't even know where to begin. I'm holding up on putting the rest of my site together, until I can get the blog working.
Please comment or email me: morethanchaos@yahoo.com if you can help.
Thanks much!

problem removing dialer - ias860.dll
Date: 09/26/06
(Computer Help) Keywords: security, virus, yahoo
I am running Windows XP home.
Ok, I don't know I got this, but I can't remove it. I've virus scanned 3 times (I am up to date), used spybot search & destroy (but it found nothing, even while updated), and used hijackthis to delete it, but everytime I do, it just keeps coming back. The virus scanner (I use AVG) found some of the virus but it didn't remove it all, despite me scanning more then once.
I went to the registry and deleted all references to ias860.dll, and all it's keys, but it seems to magically reappear on startup.
I also tried deleting the file, ias860.dll, but it won't let me. It's not in my process list and it only shows up in my startup list when I use spybot's 'system startup' tool (msconfig doesn't show it.) It's not read-only .. I also rebooted in safe mode and tried to delete the file, it still wouldn't let me. Also in spybot, there is a tool to remove BHO's. The BHO is there, it references to a place in the registry. I tried to delete the key in spybot, it removes it but it doesn't matter since it .. just keeps coming back.
I can use spybot to delete the file, but it just keeps coming back. In spybot, this is the startup info:

Search feature question
Date: 10/06/06
(Microsoft Windows) Keywords: yahoo, google
Hello. New here. And I was just wondering: is there a way to keep your search features from recording all your typos or at least to temporarily erase them so that you can begin anew? The reason I ask is because I found it annoying that Windows XP records every typo you make you go to search for a particular person, site, or community on here in general. So far I've cleaned out my prefetch folder and deleted all my cookies, files, & history too; none of which had worked so far. Somehow I would think that it's an option that's similar to the clear search feature in the Yahoo/Google searchbars, but I honestly wouldn't know.
Thanks in advance.
PS: I am also tempted to delete Windows Msger, but will this cause my computer some major problems if I do?
