1. Opera Mini 2

    Date: 07/25/06 (Opera Browser)    Keywords: browser, java

    I see that Opera Mini 2.0 is out now and it's looking very slick. Page Transition Animations, keyboard shortcuts (*1 to go to your first bookmark etc), custom searches on the home page and full screen mode (**).

    Opera's definitely looking very slick and totally blows away the idea that Java's slow.

  2. Points and coordinates and all that

    Date: 07/25/06 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, browser

    I need a script, or the (mathematical?) insight so I can write a script, that can determine if a point is in a series of coordinates. My prime example: browsers using the tag.

    I found this script, and it works great...for convex polygons. I could, theoretically, keep using this script and just make a series of convex polygons that add up to a more complex object... but I imagine there's an easier way.

    Is there anything already written in PHP for this?

  6. java open browser window

    Date: 07/28/06 (WebDesign)    Keywords: browser

    I have a question for you folks regarding pop-ups.

    What exactly is the difference between an automatic pop-up ad and an 'open browser window' in a link (simliar to this when you click the thumbnails)?

    I mean other than the fact that the automatic ones are the evil and all...

    Does blocking pop-ups through any browser options or even a pop-up killing program make links such as those thumbnails unable to open? I know I used to just assume there would be similar problems and also spoke to somebody today of the same belief.

  9. Help please!

    Date: 08/01/06 (Computer Help)    Keywords: browser

    Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with my computer. Last night my entire computer crashed and I had to start from scratch and reinstall everything. After reinstalling all of the programs and getting the internet back up and running, things seemed to be okay until I tried watching something at youtube.com and found that my computer will no longer play videos online.

    I figured this had something to do with flash and so I downloaded Macromedia Shockwave Player. It acted like it finished the downloading and everything, but I am still unable to play videos and pretty much anything that uses flash. So I tried downloading it again and still, it won't work.

    Does anyone know why this is happening? Is the flash just not working properly for my computer or does it have something to do with my internet browser (I'm using Internet Explorer 6)? Or is there something else I'm missing here?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    color:#ddc;
    float:left;
    padding:2% 3% 0 0;
    font-family:Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
    }

    This is my code, but when I view it in a browser, it doesn't work.

    ::Edit::
    Oh geez, I left everyone in the dark here, apologies!

    What doesn't work are the first-letter attributes, and they don't work in FF or IE.

    Sorry folks, h aha, that should clear things up.

  13. Stressed at what to do here

    Date: 08/03/06 (Computer Help)    Keywords: browser, web, spyware, spam

    Hi. A few weeks ago I was using Internet Explorer as my web browser and I noticed these popups kept showing up:

    http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k193/AutumnRoseAngel/Popups/

    So I removed IE and switched to Firefox, but I soon noticed that Firefox kept messing up on some of my pages, but no more popups.

    So I'm reconsidering Firefox and moving to Netscape. I'll just try Netscape on here, I've used it at school and it works fine there.

    What's the best way to remove spyware/spamware? What programs should I use?

  15. You can tell I'm not a computer person...

    Date: 08/03/06 (Computer Help)    Keywords: browser, web

    Hey,

    I was wondering, is there anyway I can delete websites from my bowser memory? We're not supposed to use the internet for personal use where I work but, well, my job is boring and here I am. They set the computer up so that you can't clear the history, but I figured out how to do that. I have also deleted stuff from the 'temporary internet files', but still whenever i type L into the browser it rushes to suggest livejournal to me.

    Just wondering if there was anything i could do?

    Thanks

    Date: 08/04/06 (Computer Help)    Keywords: browser

    Well after removing my Ewido and Netscape and trying to see if I could remove IE7 myself proved wrong. Since my last post I was searching like crazy trying to find a working browser. So, I ended up back with Netscape, which isn't as bad as I thought, plus, I'm starting to get used to the tabbed stuff...I kinda like it anyway I guess.

    Oh well...

    and reinstalled Ewido

    Sorry for the bother...

    Date: 08/06/06 (Web Development)    Keywords: browser

    This may be a really stupid question... actually I have a few. My page http://www.camisadoind.com has transparent backgrounds for the pages inside of the frames and it wont work on firefox. It makes it yellow. And on firefox theres a weird blue border around my top image.

    Help? Id be so happy if I could get the site to look right in all browsers. Thanks

  18. just a bit of research

    Date: 08/07/06 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: rss, browser

    So, I've been doing some research with using/implementing RSS feeds. I've looked into a little bit and there seems to be a good bit of stuff you can do with them. Internet Explorer (v6) is currently the only browser that doesn't do anything with them (what a surprise for IE to be lagging so far behind). IE7 does though, but that's not mainstream yet. I have a feeling RSS feeds will take a while before they become widely used. I'm just trying to get a rough idea of how popular they are or aren't.

    So, please comment with whatever input you have. Even if you've never heard of them, please say so, Thanks :)

  19. RFC: Tables vs CSS vs CSS enhanced tables

    Date: 08/08/06 (Web Development)    Keywords: templates, browser, css

        Now don't get me wrong, I love CSS but the positioning system implemented by MSIE/Mozilla/Safari have their slight differences that can ultimately make it difficult to work with.  Sure there's plenty of little hacks and such to work around them, but it looks pretty bad to the clients when my work renders wrong on obsolete browsers.   So I've gone back to using tables to lock elements in place, then using CSS to beautify them.  I still keep my templates below 10k in size and all appears to be good?
