Is there any way to disable a specific javascript command in Firefox?
I'm not sure if it's actually possible to do something like this, but I am looking for a way to have Firefox disable a specific javascript command. I would like to disable the "window.location.replace" javascript. If I surf from page X to page Y and it uses "window.location.replace" to redirect me to page Z, then page Y does not appear in my history. I would like a way to prevent the javascript from modifying my browser history in that manner (and I am willing to disable automatic redirection if necessary).
Ultimately what I am after is to have an accurate record of what URLs I have visited, regardless of whether I was automatically redirected or not. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
This, currently, is the complete text of bodyMain.php at a demo site I'm trying to build for a customer.
php include('urlparser.php') ?>
When I delete the second line, the logo that's set up in the CSS shows up properly. As soon as the second line gets put in, I get a blank and the contents of the bodyMain.php file are not listed in the browser when I 'view source'. I tested the urlparser.php segment repeatedly as I was building it and the only thing I changed about it after getting it to work on its own was to remove the 'echo' statements so it wouldn't print stuff to the screen. I'm mystified as to why referencing it is causing the page to break.
Just in case it is what's causing the problem, here's the source of that file, too:
I am very new to CSS and standards based design; but, I really want to learn. Needing results quickly, I opened StyleMaster and used one of their templates. I didn't change anything really, just reworked the graphics. Proofed it in all the browsers in the house and was so proud of myself for having actually accomplished the task. THEN - I asked friends far and wide to look at the site. It does NOT display correctly in IE6. All the content is displayed below the navigation column. Using Dreamweaver I tried to find some clue; but none of the clues led to anything that worked to make it display correctly in IE6. Works great in IE7 but Microsoft isn't forcing the upgrade so I guess it is a BIG problem for me. Bad news is the client uses IE6. Can somebody look at this and give me a clue to fixing it - I'm willing to try anything at this point. Really hate to go back to tables now when I'm so darn close. THANK YOU!!

I get a lot of emails with links to sites that I am always logged in for (LJ and various forums). When I click on these links, I am not logged in on the new tab that opens the page (meaning I can't read protected pages that I am linked to, without first logging in). I want to be able to click on the links and be automatically logged in, as if I'd typed the address into the addy bar.
For the first week I had 9.01, it functioned as I want it to. Today, it stopped leaving me logged in. I can get around it by copying the link address and opening a new tab manually, but that isn't ideal.
I'm not willing to switch permanently to v9 unless I can resolve this, because it works in my old version of Opera from early 2004. And that's a long time to go without upgrading browsers.
I had a bunch of photos I took damaged by inserting the CF card into a pocket PC, which right away proceeded to delete everything on the card. I managed to recover about 80% of the photos, but a lot of them are damaged: some have the left side of the photo on the right and the right on the left, others have messed up colouring, others just have parts of the photo blank, etc.
I'm trying to manually repair these photos in photoshop and I've come across something strange. When I view a damaged photo thumbnail in Adobe Bridge browser, the photo looks normal. When I try to open it in photoshop, photoshop says "This document may be damaged (the file may be truncated or incomplete). Continue?". If I continue to open it, it opens the photo in the damaged state, with parts missing.
What I'm wondering is how does Adobe Bridge get to show the actual undamaged photo and can I somehow get to repair the damage through that?
I think few graphs will clearly illustrate the gulf of difference between these two leading browsers (Internet Explorer 6.x & Firefox 1.x) in terms of security. Let’s start with our favorite whipping boy, market leader Internet Explorer 6.x, shall we?

Hi. I'm trying to debug a problem in a fairly complex page, that's been cobbled together out of a great many components (including third-party JavaScript snippets such as ad affiliates). I mention this just so you realize I actually don't know all of what's going on here.
Buried amidst all of this chaos, I have a form that contains
Riddle me this, Batman, because it certainly confuses me, and I can't seem to get my cable company's tech support to understand what I'm trying to tell them.
At times-- most recently last night, after a minor brownout-- I selectively lose cable connectivity. I say "selectively" because what I lose is almost* everything having to do with a web browser. Other apps-- multiplayer games, instant messaging services, file sharing programs, etc.-- all work fine, but if it requires a browser, it's toast. This is true with AOL's built-in browser, versions of IE from 5-7, and Firefox, running Windows98 and XP (Home and Pro).
* I can, occsionally, get part of a page to load-- e.g., I let a page load go for five and a half minutes and got the top text from www.yahoo.com, and a placeholder or two for images before it timed out.
The systems are connected to a Linksys cable router, with a Motorola Surfboard modem between it and the wall. The router and modem are obviously working correctly, because I'm getting throughput from everything but the browsers.
Anyone seen anything like this, and know how to fix it? I have power-cycled everything until I'm blue in the face, and I'm assuming that there's nothing wrong ont he cable company's end, since non-browser proggies are working.
I am happy to announce the long awaited release of Anaconda theme for WordPress 2.x (and above) blogs. Your search for a good css based three column WordPress theme is finally over.
Anaconda uses flexible 3 column layout which is designed entirely with CSS. The center column and left sidebar are flexible and adjusts to browser [...]
It is surprising to see MySpace still allows simple hacks like this. You can view any user’s private videos on MySpace with this simple trick.
Type in url in your browser and replace XXXXXXX with any MySpace users id:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.showvids&friendid=XXXXXXX
That’s all it takes to view any user’s videos, even private ones. via GrownUpGeek

Hi, I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser. I moved to a new place, and all of my 'bookmarks' are in that computer. Is there a way for me to get my bookmarks?
In Internet Explorer, you can find the 'favorites' folder and all of the bookmarks will show up as Internet shortcut icons; and you can right-click and copy them. I wonder if there is a similar option for Mozilla Firefox.
I would like for a certain .css to be loaded depending on the viewers browser. I know I can do it with PHP or Javascipt, but I swear there is a much simpler way that I know I have seen but for the life of me cannot remember it... help please? Thanks all!
When i click on the link it just opens the site, but there is no pop-up. I'm sure i've screwed some part of the code up when editing it, but i am not sure where.
In addition, if someone could explain me, i need up to 8 pop ups in one page, does naming them 1-8 cause a problem? Does the name need to be associated with the URL/Title?
Thanks
Also, not associated - why does IE put a grey background to my png images? Works fine with Mozilla, i don't know about other browsers. Is there a way to avoid browsers chaging pngs?
