    I'm 99.9% sure the problem is opnmjgf.dll, which pops up in both O2 and O20. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, including flagging it to delete on reboot in HT, it keeps coming back, and I've no idea how to get it to go away permanently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    I was just wondering if it exists some html-code for making one's default icon hidden in the layout?
    I hope that it's clear what I'm asking for. ._.; Thanks in advance!

  4. Snowfall script

    Date: 11/13/07 (Javascript Community)    Keywords: html, java, web

    This is a simple, hopefully-not-too-stupid question, but does LiveJournal allow javascript?

    I'm using a S1 style layout right now and I'm trying to get a simple snowfall script to work (here; another example of a snowfall script in effect is here), but it's not working. I thought it'd be easy enough since the advantage of S1 layouts is it's basically like the HTML needed to make a website layout, so I thought this would be a matter of copy/pasting the javascript, but I guess not.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance!

  5. email html design headsup

    Date: 11/14/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: html

    Just so ya'll are aware, gmail new renders email in a whole new way. Whatever new way this is totally fucked up some HTML i had functioning in it's older version.

    You can switch to view things under the previous system they had going, but I really doubt most users will care to do that, similar to how they still all use IE because that's what came with their computers.

    If anyone knows what the exact chages are, i'd love to hear them and how to solve it.

  6. More advanced mod-rewrite

    Date: 11/16/07 (Apache)    Keywords: php, html, web, hosting

    I've recently been switching my site over from a bunch of static HTML pages to PHP using Smarty templating

    I've decided to use mod_rewrite to make more attractive and search-engine friendly canonical URLs

    I've chosen this format:

    http://example.com/some-words/some-more-words/
    http://example.com/some-words/
    (both are valid, up to 2 such sections as shown)

    Notice no ".html"/".php". This is rewritten to

    index.php?page=some-words/some-more-words/

    The problems:

    In the meantime, while I transition to this format, I'm keeping my old static pages up, because there's a lot of inbound links to them that aren't going to get changed (little websites, various forum and blog posts, etc)

    I'll eventually get my pages switched over, but in the meantime there's at least one directory I would like to exclude from rewriting. Is there a way I can omit specific URLs from rewriting? I'd like for "example.com/particular-directory/" to be exempt from being rewritten

    Another possibly related problem is that I have a few other domains hosted as "add-on" domains to the same hosting package, so their contents are in a subdirectory. So, of course, the URL re-writing directive cascades down and breaks those domains completely. Of course, it only took a few seconds to fix by adding an .htaccess to each subdirectory saying "RewriteEngine Off", but what if I wanted a separate URL-rewriting scheme on those directories? Can I tell it to ignore any other rules that might be applied and start fresh?

    My current rewriting rule looks like this:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^/?([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+/?[a-zA-Z0-9\-]+/?)$ index.php?page=$1 [L]

    Is there a flag or other rules that could help me?

    (Note: I'm on shared hosting so http.conf etc are not an option)

  7. Open Source PHP4 Search Engines?

    Date: 11/16/07 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, mysql, html, sql, web

    Hello Friends

    I want to add a search functionality to a project I am working on. I'd like the search function to index text held in several MySQL tables and then generate a list of keywords to be stored in another table. I do not want a web crawler or an indexing function that indexes files on the filesystem.

    The search function will then access this table of keywords in order to find matching documents, and hopefully return them in order of relevance.

    I know of this project: http://www.phpguru.org/static/PorterStemmer.html However, it is PHP5 only. The PHP4 project it borrows from, http://www.chuggnutt.com/stemmer.php may or may not work, but it seems to perhaps be buggy.

    Anyone have any recommendations for such a project?

    Thanks!

Can anyone help please?

  9. Mootools Image Swap Onclick

    Date: 11/17/07 (Javascript Community)    Keywords: html, java

    I'm trying to do an image swap - you click ANY image in the LI and it replaces the FIRST IMG in that LI.

    I've updated the code a couple of times - currently, the following code SWAPS the image, but won't swap back!

    JS:

    	$$('img').addEvent('click', function() {
    		this.getParent().addClass('selected');
    		var src = $E('li img').getProperty('src');
    		var path = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf(/^.*\//),src.length - 7);
    		var img = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf('/'),src.length - 7);
    		var ext = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf('.'),src.length);
    		var newImg = (path + 'on' + ext);
    		this.getParent().firstChild.setProperty('src', newImg);
    	});
    	$$('a.removeItem').addEvent('click', function() {
    		this.getParent().removeClass('selected');
    		var src = $E('li img').getProperty('src');
    		var path = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf(/^.*\//),src.length - 7);
    		var img = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf('/'),src.length - 7);
    		var ext = src.substring(src.lastIndexOf('.'),src.length);
    		var newImg = (path + 'off' + ext);
    		this.getParent().firstChild.setProperty('src', newImg);
    	});

    HTML:
    	ul id="whatever"
                li img src="images/image01_off.jpg"
                	Desc Text Other text
                    img src="images/btn_add.jpg" class="btnAdd"
                    img src="images/btn_added.jpg" class="btnAdded"
                    a href="javascript:;" class="removeItem" Remove Item
                /li
                /li
                li img src="images/image02_off.jpg"
                	Desc Text Other text
                    img src="images/btn_add.jpg" alt="Add to Wishlist" class="btnAdd"
                    img src="images/btn_added.jpg" alt="Add to Wishlist" class="btnAdded"
                    a href="javascript:;" class="removeItem" Remove Item
                /li
            /ul

    Any ideas?

  10. Fastest Phenom quad core beaten by slowest Core 2 Quad

    Date: 11/19/07 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: php, software, html, asp, web

    When quad-cores collide: AMD Phenom vs Intel Core 2 Quad
    http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=10427

    "We can debate all day whether the majority of consumer software is threaded enough to take advantage of four execution cores, but the immutable fact remains that AMD's fastest quad-core offering is slower than Intel's slowest..."

    "...AMD's nascent Phenom also suffers under the considerable yoke of Intel's Core 2 Quad 6600 pricing, which at £165 for a hugely-overclockable 2.4GHz part is something of a bargain. AMD, though, is pitching its slightly underperforming quad-core part at roughly the same price."

    AMD's Phenom Unveiled: A Somber Farewell to K8
    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3153&p=1
    The problem is, and I hate to ruin the surprise here, Phenom isn't faster than Intel's Core 2 Quad clock for clock. In other words, a 2.3GHz Phenom 9600 will set you back at least $283 and it's slower than a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Quad Q6600, which will only cost you $269.

    Phenom 13.5% Slower Than Intel's Q6600
    http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/19/the_spider_weaves_its_web/page22.html

    It's really not a close fight between AMD and Intel at this point. "Steamroll" would be an apt description of the situation.

  12. Thunderbird - On a Mac - HTML Emails

    Date: 11/21/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: software, html

    Has anyone had experience with sending out HTML emails on Thunderbird for Mac?

    I downloaded Thunderbird specifically so I would be able to do this. I have yet to successfully do it. I see some simple buttons to insert pictures, change font, etc., but what I actually want to do is insert my own code -- I've already designed the email itself as a separate HTML page.

    When I do that, it just sends the whole thing as plain text. Tags and all.

    It seems like it may be a Thunderbird-for-Mac thing -- my boyfriend just downloaded Thunderbird onto his windows machine and said that it looks completely different. He is trying to send my HTML email to me now, as a test.

    Please don't respond just to tell me why I shouldn't be sending HTML anyway. This is for a client who specifically wants a HTML email blast. They have their own software, but I'd like to be able to send myself a test email in Thunderbird. I really just need to know how to do it, not to be scolded for doing it.

    Thanks.

    Pasting the URL in the userpic form, as requested.
    Using MWSnap 3 to take a picture of the photo as a jpg and then bringing THAT jpg to the manage userpics upload.

  14. hard drive death

    Date: 11/25/07 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: html

    My son's hard drive has died. Here's his entry:
    "So I've had a hard drive die. This is bad because it has a lot of rather important stuff on it. It doesn't show up on BIOS detection at all - in fact, it takes a long time for the BIOS to decide it doesn't exist, it's clearly just blocking until it gives up. It also makes a clicking noise, which is presumably bad.

    Any suggestions on a way to revive it? I've tried the freezer trick with no luck (it just makes it louder). I'm almost tempted to heat it and see what happens, but I'll wait on that for now at least - I'm just sort of running out of ideas.

    It's a Barracuda ATA V, 120gb, with the 3.33 firmware. The first three characters of the serial number are 3KA, which I'm told is important. If you have one of those I'd happily buy it off you so I could try an electronics swap."

    Any good ideas? The original post is at http://zorbathut.livejournal.com/785785.html . If you can't help him, I suspect no one can.

    Edit: he resurrected it, don't know how. Thanks for your input.

    Смысл в следующем. Этот код меняет текст и атрибуты у некоторого подмножества HTML тегов через DOM. При малейшем изменении верстки циферки у childNodes[#] нужно пересчитывать заново =)

  20. Getting rid of the depricated "name" value

    Date: 12/07/07 (WebDesign)    Keywords: html, java

    I know very little about javascript, and I'm trying to make some minor changes to this script so it can be valid in XHTML . See how it uses "name" in the

    tag? I'd very much like to change that "name" to "id", and from everything I understand the "getElementbyId" take should work with either, but if I make that change, the javascript breaks. I can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust this little script to accept an id value instead of a name value.

    Help...?

    Or, if this is a lousy way to do this in general, I'm open to a complete change. What I'm using it for is to have a product image and description change when a new selection is made in a "select" pulldown menu. This script works perfectly for my needs except for the deprecation issue.
